Read about what’s next for Celine Goberville's 3D printed pistol grip http://ow.ly/bHQR50Haiha

Celine Goberville, a French competitive shooter using a pistol grip 3D printed on Zortrax M300 Dual, qualified for the finals in 10 m air pistol and ended up in 31st place in 25m shooting at the Tokyo Olympics.

“The majority of time we spent developing the current grip, the one which Celine used in Tokyo, we worked with single extrusion Zortrax M200 Plus 3D printers. The upgrade to the M300 Dual combined with Zortrax Apoller we used for smoothing the final grip came relatively late in the project. For this reason, we believe we haven’t yet reached the full potential of this technology”, claims Jacquelin. Jacquelin currently thinks about keeping the Z-ULTRAT for the majority of the grip and using a lighter materials for areas exposed to lower stress levels. This way, the team hopes to reduce the grip’s weight even further.

To aid Celine in her way to Paris and earlier to another World Cup victory, Athletics 3D is going to work closely with her team and coaches to fine tune the grip design.

Read the latest blog post we have shared on our website about Replique and BASF Forward AM’s food safe 3D printing process for Miele. http://ow.ly/amhJ50H8Y3G

German 3D printing platform Replique and BASF Forward AM’s material experts are working together to create parts for home appliances manufacturer Miele, using a food safe 3D printing process for parts in contact with consumable goods. IDEX technology ensured a fast-tracked, profitable process for this low volume batch production.

In Germany, Replique and BASF Forward AM have the technique down to a T for their client Miele. After Replique receives the details in its digital platform, BASF Forward AM gets to work manufacturing the products with the help of the IDEX technology in their small farm of BCN3D Epsilon W27 printers. Not only are they saving significant costs on their production process, but their final products are more accurate with a smaller initial investment required.

3D printing was chosen as the best solution for Miele as the low volume batch production of printed accessories could be produced cost-efficiently and with quick entry into the market. With IDEX technology doubling its production, the significant reduction in printing time and costs makes it an attractive feature for customers. This success with such a big name exemplifies the potential for other manufacturers.

We have shared a new blog on our website from BCN3D. http://ow.ly/3OIf50H7Xog

Unicef and Domestic Data Streamers have collaborated with BCN3D to create a mental health awareness art installation of 3D printed busts to spark conversations about issues children face today as a result of the pandemic. With complex issues of anxiety, stress, and depression at an all-time high from the pandemic, Unicef approached creative agency Domestic Data Streamers with a shocking report on the number of children in France suffering from these illnesses. Domestic Data Streamers took this information on board and created 10 busts of real children for a thought-provoking art installation on the streets of Paris.

3D printing provided the quick production they were looking for, without compromising the quality that could be obtained for the replicas of real children’s faces. Since Domestic Data Streamers have frequently worked with BCN3D and use their printers for their prototyping, testing, and production processes, they decided to make use of the print farm of Epsilon W50s in their offices in Barcelona.

Find out more on how to make renewable energy more accessible with 3D printing in this new blog we have shared on our website. http://ow.ly/gpab50H5ayJ

Generative Small Urban Turbine (GUST) is a student project, focusing on developing a wind turbine as well as promoting renewable wind energy for individual use. The goal of the project is to reduce the costs of obtaining electricity and make the consumers more independent from the external suppliers. GUST members take advantage of Zortrax 3D printing solutions during their work on a small wind turbine that they have been perfecting since 2016. Learn more on how this extraordinary Polish academic project has grown into a European award-winner with a Zortrax M300 3D printer.

The team also uses a Zortrax M300 3D printer to create a 1:1 scale show mockup. This year, for their 3D prints the team used both Zortrax materials (Z-ABS, Z-ULTRAT, Z-HIPS) and the materials from other manufacturers. Z-SUITE settings most commonly used by GUST were the default settings for Z-ULTRAT. The standard changes included: print quality, layer height (depending on the desired accuracy of surface reproduction and complexity of the given element), infill level and some support settings.

We have shared guide 5 by BCN3D, with all the best tips and guidance from BCN3D regarding how to prepare your models for printing. This guide focuses on all the ways in which support material affects your print. BCN3D developed BCN3D Stratos, an advanced slicing software that allows you to make the best out of the BCN3D printer and material family.

FDM 3D printing is an additive manufacturing process where objects are made by depositing material in a predefined way layer by layer. Each manufacturing process has different capabilities and limitations, and FDM 3D printing has one basic rule. Each new layer needs to be supported by the layer below.

What happens if your component includes overhangs or features that would be printed on air? Then you’d need to add a support structure. The support material refers to the automatically generated structure that supports the overhangs and bridges of your model.

Find out when you need support material and which one for your project in our latest blog post.

A great 3D printing experience requires more than just making great hardware. BCN3D have developed BCN3D Stratos, an advanced slicing software that allows you to make the best out of the BCN3D printer and material family.

If you struggle finding the right balance between part quality and print time, the infill settings are what you’re looking for. In this blog post, it shows you everything you need to know about infill and how to make the best out of it. In the 3D printing industry, the infill refers to the internal structure that fills the inside of a 3D printed part. Components made with a 3D printer are rarely solid (100% infill). Instead, a low-density structure is 3D printed, saving manufacturing time and material while offering similar mechanical properties. Infill is one of the manufacturing features that makes 3D printing unique. The infill settings allow you to decide the internal structure of the part, including its density and properties.

Check out our new blog post we have shared about how System Strobel customised an Audi A6 as an emergency vehicle.
http://ow.ly/jRAy50GZpiX

System Strobel is a commercial vehicle manufacturer specializing in ambulance, patient transport and emergency vehicles. Their main products are traditional box body constructions, converted vans and sedans, but also other specialized utility vehicles. System Strobel is exporting its products worldwide to paramedics, relief agencies, fire and police departments.

The design department upgraded to an EinScan HX which they use to streamline the design and engineering process, since each vehicle is one of a kind and tailor-made for every client’s special needs. The EinScan HX has become a true game-changer for System Strobel as it uplevels the accuracy of measurement tremendously and reduces the time needed to collect and document all relevant characteristics of the trunk.

We have shared a new blog about ERIKS, they offer technical components and related services to all sections of industry. By adding 3D printing technology to its workflow, ERIKS is able to provide its customers with a service that holds the potential to shake up industries around the globe. 3D printing technology has also enabled ERIKS to further streamline its day-to-day operations. http://ow.ly/XjyC50GYeH9

Cleanliness and 3D printing also jointly represent an opportunity for ERIKS to provide a valuable service to its customers. After a site scan, parts are designed by either clients themselves or ERIKS engineers, then printed using Ultimaker S5 printers at the Alkmaar facility. These rooms act as environmentally controlled areas in which the printing process can be closely monitored, resulting in “certified” parts – guaranteeing not only quality and efficacy, but reproducibility and reliability.

“[Using 3D printing], we have actually saved €350,000 in our production facilities by increasing the yield of our products and eliminating a number of safety hazards,” Job said.
