Behind the scenes at Carnglaze Caverns this weekend with The Good Old Fashioned Lover Boys.

Always a unique venue to work in — from the golf cart load-in to building a show inside the caves.

For this one we were providing crew and control, working alongside Mass Affect on lighting and the venue's in-house PA system.

A dry hire setup from a wedding near Liskeard this weekend using our Essential Party Package.

For this one the client swapped our usual haze machine for an Equinox Helix effect, adding a bit of extra movement to the lighting setup.

Perfect for smaller events of around 50 guests, the package keeps things simple with sound, lighting and a microphone for speeches and announcements, plus an easy way to connect your phone or playlist and get going.

Prep day at the unit today getting the Allen & Heath SQ6 ready for a busy run of shows.

This weekend we’re back at Carnglaze Caverns with The Good Old Fashioned Lover Boys, followed by our third year providing full production for Thirst Aid festival next weekend.

A lot of the work happens long before the audience arrives — testing, prep and making sure everything is ready to go before load-in day.

Personal Assistant Required - Music Industry Based

Come the end of January/early Feb i am in need of a new assistant. This is a self employed role, funded through access to work. Initially part time, but 30 hours a week available for the right person.
An interest in music is essential, with experience in tech being a big bonus. You must be over 22, live within a sensible distance to Redruth and be comfortable driving vans.

I am blind, and i run a PA hire business in Cornwall, as well as a couple of rehearsal rooms. In its simplest form the role is assisting me getting to and from work, help setting up at shows and with getting around the venue. For the right person, the full time role will also include more varied things, prepping equipment at our unit, meetings, odd jobs that need doing - this can be pretty varied, but you won’t be bored.

If you like live music, don’t mind working weekends and late nights, and can follow instructions you can do this job. However, a basic understanding of audio engineering, music tech or a related field does make my life a little easier.

Minimum age requirement is because you will be driving my van and as such need to be insurable. The business and I are both based in Redruth, so being near by makes sense but the job has taken us as far a field as Bath in the past.

This Sunday, it was an honour and a privilege to supply PA and crew for the final Dazed & Confused show at St Austell band club, bringing an end to a 28 year run as a band. A sold out show, with a great atmosphere from start to finish with a few tears shed.
Our longest standing client, its been great fun helping to bring the noise for these guys for the last 10 years and we’re going to miss working together.
To Martin, Chris, John and Norm we wish you all the best for the future.

This weekend we returned to Bodmin to supply PA and crew for the second year for the marquee stage at Alstock Festival. We had a fantastic time last year, so it was great to be asked back to do it all again this year.
We once again supplied our NXW44 and 8006 combo, this year opting for a slightly different deployment, clustering the subs together on the floor to help bass coverage. To this we added 2x Yamaha DHr 10 for front fills, along with 2x ART 912 for delays to ensure everything could be heard right to the back of the marquee.
Our hats off to everyone involved in making this event a success as well as all of the bands we got to work with across the two days.
Special thanks to Josh for covering FOH duties on the Saturday and Nick from Kernow Music Foundation for his help with patching.
