My phone camera has got “pinkness overload” from the gorgeousness that are these Sweet William blooms. They are so vibrant and love this hot weather! 💓🌸

Peter and I had a fabulous afternoon at Sancreed Beacon on ’ En Plein Air workshop organised by 🌞🎨 Peter showing that he’s still got it, (it’s been a few years since he was a painter in the 1980s) his 10 minute painting was wonderful. Everyone got a quick fire round on Jeremy’s easel, trying out the oils. It’s amazing how quickly you can paint a scene when Jeremy is on hand to give you guidance! Our paintings are now drying at home, with pride of place on the mantlepiece. Highly recommend going on one of Jeremy’s workshops, it was so lovely to be out in nature en Plein air on Sancreed Beacon and learn new stuff with great company. Pure joy!

Yesterday one of my customers emailed me with the best Customer feedback, and I had a little tear as I read their email “The three shades arrived yesterday and have been put up.

I love your craftsmanship and your tender care in carefully wrapping them for postage and delivery. Just going through the process of unwrapping the process is a joy. And because you have taken care it’s an important signal for us to take care.

I am so glad to have caught you before you decided to take a break. I hope you can find the time you need for yourself and your art. ”
Their lovely words felt like a welcome ray of warm sunshine, and made me feel so proud and happy to be sending out joy (in the form of lampshades) but also I do feel a sense of relief to be having a break.

A pause on lampshades ⏸️

I’m taking a break from making lampshades, with immediate effect.

I have a couple of outstanding orders to fulfil over the next week, but in the meantime I’ve paused the online sales on my website.

It just feels like a right time to recalibrate and make a conscious pause, and to re-evaluate and re-assess what works for me. I love making lampshades but the whole process of running a lampshade design & making business is very physical, and I feel like my body is telling me that I need to find a quiet creativity again, and be a bit more gentle and a lot less stressed. (And to get back to making smaller products that don’t take up so much space!!)

I’ve had some really lovely customers over the past ten years and their joy in receiving my lampshades has given me a proper sense of achievement.

Not done yet, just doing different!!

A Good Friday morning visit to see the newly finished Kerdroya Labyrinth at Colliford Lake, it got a bit wild up on Bodmin Moor! Happy Easter 🐣
