The other day, having bought an LP from the local charity shop, my Father couldn't get his Grundig radiogram to perform, the turntable wouldn't turn, so thought I'd have a quick look at it, turned out to be a mornings work!

Well, after a week in hospital having a pacemaker fitted, I have to take some time off work, so here's a few of the last jobs before my un-planned break!

Been a while since I posted some recent work repair jobs !

Had the innards of a Philco 450 radio from the 1930's in for repair, but all was not as it seemed, the owner soon realised after purchasing the radio, that it had been totally modified, converted to mains operation (it was originally a battery set) all the valves had been replaced with 1940's types and the circuitry extensively modified to suit. After finding my way around the set (there was no circuit diagram of course), replacing leaky capacitors and resistors that had gone high in value, the set worked very well. The owner was chuffed and when re-fitted into its cabinet, he had a useful working radio!
