🔍 Transform Quality Inspections in Your Business Central Workflow

In manufacturing and distribution, inspections are critical, yet too often they are delayed, inconsistent, or disconnected from your ERP system.

Quality Inspector by Insight Works changes that. It’s built within Dynamics 365 Business Central and allows you to:

✅ Define custom inspection templates (numeric, images, free text)
✅ Trigger inspections at the right moments (receipt, in-process, final)
✅ Enforce “must pass” logic before proceeding
✅ Capture photos and attachments directly on the shopfloor
✅ Feed inspection data into Power BI, Excel, and workflows

Teams using the app have reduced rework, improved audit readiness, and gain visibility into recurring defects, all without adding another system.

If your inspection process still runs on paper, spreadsheets, or disconnected tools, it might be time to explore a better way.

Have a read and let us know your thoughts.

If you're looking to introduce a new finance system then it's good to understand why picking a go-live date, and sticking to it, matters more than you think.

Microsoft's latest round of currency adjustments has meant roughly a 6% drop in the pricing of Business Central in the UK. This makes it easier than ever to justify moving to a cloud based ERP system.

Here’s a bit of good news to kick off February - Microsoft has announced the new Business Central License Prices and the GBP price has been reduced by around 6%

Your growing business has got stuck, you're at a stage where spreadsheets don't cut it anymore.

All those different bits of software you've got don't talk to each other and you're spending more time reconciling the data than pushing the business forward.

It might be time to look at an ERP system, but then you ask yourself "How do I start an ERP project?". This blog should help get you started and point you in the right direction.

If you've asked "How do I start an ERP Project?" don't worry, with a bit of planning and the right mindset, you can get things moving quickly and smoothly.

Whilst watching the news last night there was a piece about major issues in the tomato products supply chain into UK supermarkets (bear with me). Specifically, 'Italian' tomato products containing Chinese produced tomatoes (who knew DNA testing of tomatoes was a thing). The article was highlighting bigger issues in the supply chain than just the wrong kind of tomatoes (such as forced labour).

However, the supplier insisted that whilst it did use Chinese tomatoes in some products it didn't in Italian labelled products (which was shown to be false). I find it worrying that a major distributor was putting products on the shelf without knowing the provenance of the contents. Assuming that it wasn't done maliciously, then why have they not got a system that allows them to trace the products they are purchasing through their internal processes and out to customers?

I'm assuming they're not using Microsoft Dynamics Business Central because if they were then they'd know that with the Item Tracking & Tracing functionality they'd have full visibility of what went into their products.
