Circular Computing

Circular Computing We exist to create a more ethical, sustainable and socially responsible way to buy laptops.

Our remanufactured and refurbished HP, Dell and Lenovo laptops are the highest quality non-new laptops in the world.

Faced with the immense task of modernising end-user services for employees across the core department and its Arm's Length Bodies, Defra chose a "sustainable by default" approach. Through their partnership with Atos, they are pioneering a circular workplace model by deploying our carbon-neutral sustainable laptops.

Defra isn't just anticipating the incoming Government Buying Standards, they are actively setting the benchmark. They have proven that changing habitual IT procurement cycles removes the old misconception that "second use means second best."

Is your organisation ready to move from a linear tech strategy to a lasting, circular model?

The world is generating e-waste five times faster than documented recycling can handle. Simply put: Recycling cannot keep up with e-waste.

This International E-Waste Day, we decided to revisit our podcast series, Sustainable IT: In Conversation, and let the industry leaders and experts Elsa Nightingale, Alexander Thiele, Stefan Nilsson, John Gladstone, Mat Jordan, Alastair Borissow and Sophia Haywood-Atkinson deal with the challenging questions every IT leader should be facing.

The consensus is clear: Recycling recovers materials. Reuse prevents crisis and improves the whole laptop sustainability equation.

To truly solve the crisis, we must shift our mindset from a linear, disposable culture to an active circular economy. By choosing our certified remanufactured laptops, organisations can reduce their environmental footprint and ensure that technology doesn’t cost the Earth.

Close the loop. Choose sustainability. Discover The New New® with Circular Computing.

More and more leading organisations across Ireland are choosing Circular Computing remanufactured notebooks over new. Will you join them?

By switching to our remanufactured notebooks, forward-thinking teams are refreshing their fleets while cutting costs by up to 40% compared with new.

Our remanufactured notebooks produce over 15 times less CO₂ compared with an average new notebook, delivering enterprise-grade performance without compromising on quality. They also support Ireland’s Green Public Procurement Strategy and Action Plan 2024–2027.

Every notebook comes with a warranty of up to 3 years, with longer options available on request. Our Circular Remanufacturing Process™ enables us to go beyond the BSI Kitemark standard for remanufactured notebooks to deliver what we believe is becoming The New New®. This makes a circular approach to IT smarter for the budget and smarter for the planet too.

Get in touch to learn more about upgrading your notebook fleet. Our remanufactured notebooks are also easily accessible through the OGP framework portal via GreenIT. https://portal.greenit.ie/

A laptop's sustainability story shouldn't end with the device. It should start before you open the box.

Every Circular Computing remanufactured laptop arrives in custom-built packaging made from 100% recycled materials. It is fully recyclable and biodegradable.

We've also stopped printing user guides for the box.

The PCR Awards 2024 recognised it with the Sustainable Packaging Award.

As Simon Edwards, Head of IT Operations at The Royal Mint, puts it:
"Not only did the devices meet our demanding spec requirements, but they had a completely premium appeal - from the packaging they arrived in, to the devices themselves."

Circularity isn't about changing one part of the IT lifecycle. It's about the whole journey. The New New® starts before you even open the box.

Not every role needs the same laptop. Frontline teams, finance, engineering and the C-Suite all place different demands on their devices, and a one-size-fits-all fleet is rarely the right answer.

Our core enterprise-grade , and laptops come with 8GB - 64GB RAM, a fast 256GB - 1TB SSD and pre-installed Windows 11 Professional, giving your teams the daily performance, reliability and consistency they need to stay productive. Every battery is fully tested and backed by a one-year warranty.

We also understand that every business has unique operational demands. Our Configure-to-Order option lets you tailor hard drives, RAM, operating systems and company branding to match your requirements.

The tech industry is pushing a relentless narrative that every laptop in your office needs an immediate upgrade to handle the latest software demands. But frequent device lifecycle refreshes can drive up capital expenditure and inflate Scope 3 emissions without delivering a genuine return on investment for every desk.

Taking a more measured, practical approach to laptop lifecycles allows IT leaders to optimise budgets, minimise e-waste and deploy high-performing technology precisely where it matters most.

One of the biggest barriers to adopting used technology has historically been concern over quality. Businesses cannot afford to have their teams working on slow, unreliable kit.

However, the industry has matured significantly. Circular Computing has spent years developing the Circular Remanufacturing Process™, which goes beyond the BSI Kitemark standard for Remanufactured Laptops. Our process has 360 stages and is a meticulous 5+ hour journey per laptop delivering unrivalled quality and consistency you can rely on.

Major organisations, including National Grid, have run data-driven comparisons using digital experience scoring tools. The results consistently show that high-quality remanufactured devices perform on par with new equivalents. This validates that sustainable choices do not require a trade-off in performance.

One of Greening Government Commitments ICT Annual Report's ambitions is to report an annual percentage improvement in the procurement of remanufactured and refurbished ICT, helping to promote multiple device lifecycles.

For 2024-25, that ambition is marked "at risk."

Not because departments don't recognise the opportunity. In fact, the report states that many departments already see the potential for cost savings and significant reductions in embodied carbon through second-life devices.

The challenge is measurement.

Without an accurate way to measure annual improvements in second-life ICT procurement, demonstrating progress becomes difficult.

This is exactly where Circular Computing believes the conversation should move next. As circular procurement becomes more widely adopted, organisations should begin measuring not only what they buy, but the outcomes they create. Metrics such as the proportion of second-life devices, device lifespans, embodied carbon, reuse and remanufacturing rates, residual asset value and end-of-life outcomes can provide a far more meaningful picture of progress.

Because circular procurement isn't just about making better purchasing decisions. It's about measuring the value those decisions create.

As we mark Global Goals Week 2026, one laptop can be part of a much bigger story. At Circular Computing, our business model is aligned with 9 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals - connecting the everyday decision to procure technology with wider environmental and social impact.

From reducing , virgin and through , to supporting clean water access, reforestation, biodiversity and ethical employment, the impact extends far beyond the laptop itself.

That’s what makes more than an alternative approach to technology procurement. It’s an opportunity to make everyday business decisions contribute to meaningful, measurable progress towards the Global Goals.

Global Goals Week 2026 is here and asking a question every business needs to answer: Are your everyday operations actually moving the needle? For most organisations, IT procurement feels like a routine chore. But what if a single laptop choice could restore forests, cut e-waste and change human lives?

At Circular Computing, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals aren't a corporate marketing layer, they are embedded directly into our core business model, driving active progress across 9 of the 17 SDGs. We built our business on a simple truth: procurement can be a force for radical, positive change.

This mission-first approach is why we are deeply honoured to be shortlisted for the Reuters Global Sustainability Awards 2026 in the SDG Pioneer Award category.

The Global Goals aren't just far-off targets for 2030. They are a daily choice. It’s time change tech procurement and start using it as our biggest sustainability lever.

Will your next laptop refresh be part of the solution?
