Do you know someone local who might be looking for an apprenticeship (I am currently discussing with Wey College about it)

I’m currently on the lookout for an enthusiastic person to join me!

I run a busy, independent studio here in Portland making bespoke personalised gifts. Because it's just me at the moment, I’m looking for a second pair of hands to help out with printing, packing, and dispatching daily orders - as well as designing orders so being useful on the computer is a plus but I will train you fully.

It’s a fantastic chance to learn the ropes of creative print and e-commerce with direct, one-to-one training, whilst earning an apprenticeship qualification through Weymouth College.

What I’m looking for:
✅ Someone reliable, hardworking, and keen to learn.
✅ A really good eye for detail.
✅ Basic computer skills.
✅ (Bonus) Any knowledge of Adobe products like Photoshop or Illustrator is a plus, but definitely not essential as I’ll teach you everything you need to know!

That’s me officially finished for the year 🤍 Bring on 2026

Small business life can be incredibly rewarding but also really tough at times (especially these days!), and this last stretch has been full on. Pretty much 18 hour days trying to keep on top of everything, and I’m absolutely exhausted but so proud we made it through in one piece.

I honestly couldn’t have done it without Selena who has been amazing throughout it all, she is truly one of a kind and I am very lucky to have someone around who cares so deeply for the business I've built but also to put up with my nonsense... and a huge thank you to Hayley for chipping in and helping when needed. It truly made a difference and got us through.

Since November 1st we’ve sent out over 3,000 orders, and seeing some designs turn into real best sellers has been such a proud moment, seeing my designs literally on the front page of Etsy was surreal.

Of course the biggest thank you goes to my wife Elisha for basically not seeing me for the last six weeks and still supporting me through it all even when I'm tired and grumpy.

Thank you to everyone who has ordered, supported, shared or recommended my business. It genuinely means everything.

Time to rest, reset, and come back ready for next year. I've got some really lovely ideas that I hope will take the business up another level.
