Here's a shocking statistic regarding spam:

South America is currently the biggest source of spam being sent to Cymru1's hosting servers. Roughly one spam message is being sent from countries such as Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Argentina PER SECOND to just one of our hosting servers. What's more, at the moment the bulk of these messages are targeting fewer than 10 domains on that server.

All these particular spam messages are being sent from computers whose owners have allowed them to become infected with a virus/Trojan and have become part of one of the many spam-sending "botnets" currently operating around the world.

On the positive side, almost 100% of this type of spam message gets blocked by our anti-spam systems - it is relatively easy to identify messages sent by botnets.

So although it is very annoying when spam does get through to your mailbox, please remember that for each one that slips though our filtering systems there are thousands or even hundreds of thousands of others that get blocked.

Coming soon - Plesk 11 Hosting Control Panel and Web Presence Builder 11

We’re excited to announce that a new version of the Plesk hosting control panel has just been released by Parallels, complete with an updated version of Web Presence Builder, the extremely easy to use website creation tool.

We’ll be upgrading our systems to use the new version before too long. In the meantime, take a look at this video to see how easy it is to create and edit a website with Web Presence Builder

As well as an updated version of Web Presence Builder, Plesk 11 includes a number of new and improved features. One of these is the integration of Nginx, a super-fast, lightweight web-server that can make a noticeable improvement to the speed at which our hosting customer’s websites appear on visitor’s screens – particularly if they are using mobile devices.

Of course our hosting systems are already pretty fast, mainly because we dislike overloading them and normally have plenty of capacity to spare. But Nginx will improve things still further, and extra speed is always a great thing to have.

0844 Numbers -- are they good or are they evil? Well, as with all advanced technology, it depends on what you do with them.
