🚨 Martyn’s Law: What Community Venues Need to Know
Members of the Hallmaster Ltd team attended an Action with Communities in Rural England briefing today on hashtag and the upcoming changes to venue responsibilities around counter-terrorism preparedness.
While the law isn’t expected to come into force until April 2027, now is a good time for venue trustees, managers and administrators to start understanding what it may mean for their organisations.
Martyn’s Law (officially the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025) aims to improve public safety by ensuring venues and events are better prepared to respond in the event of a terrorist incident. The legislation uses a tiered approach, where larger venues and events will have additional responsibilities.

🔹 Key takeaway: don’t panic. The legislation is still in its implementation period, and guidance, support and resources are continuing to develop ahead of April 2027. However, now is a sensible time to review your venue’s emergency procedures, understand your typical occupancy levels, and start familiarising yourself with the available guidance.
