Great news at the newest Osprey nest in Kielder Forest. We were hoping we might get a pair interested in the nest but getting a hatching egg has been super exciting.

Thanks to the following organisations for supporting this nest.

Forestry England B4RN - Broadband for the Rural North Ltd British Airways

If you are interested in establishing a breeding population of Ospreys or other raptors then we would love to assist with your project.

Great news from Joanna at Kielder Ospreys.

Nest 2 has taken a while to get established and has had a new pole location and camera for the last couple of seasons with a pair taking it on this year. We did not have high hopes for nest 1 but all going well there despite the tree height around the nest. The new nest pole and camera at Nest 12 is particularly scenic and this 'dez res' has coxed a wild nest pair to upgrade to a more luxurious ( and less tenuous) abode.

Thanks again for the tireless work that Joanna does during the season.

As many of you will know Outersight (UK) Ltd provides the technology and support to enable Forestry England to show live imagery from the Osprey nests in Kielder Forest in Northumberland. This year we are seeing some new developments with a brand new nest that has been made possible with sponsorship from British Airways and B4RN - Broadband for the Rural North Ltd who have provided the 1 gig fibre connection that all the live streams use.

Joanna Dailey runs a website where she provides all the high lights from her hours of daily observations of the camera feed and from going to observe nest in person. The site is really worth a look and bookmark.

Very good news today from the newest Osprey nest that we have put a camera on in Kielder Forest. This season we performed a great deal of upgrading and repositioning of infrastructure as a lot of the radio links were becoming overgrown. This nest was a new addition requiring an upgrade of the solar power system and a spur of armoured cable running through some pretty awkward terrain. British Airways ran a crowd funder for staff and customers to contribute to help fund and our friends at B4RN rural broadband B4RN.org.uk. have provided a 1Gig fibre connection to allow for the live streaming from several nests this year. The Forestry England ecologists, forestry squad and climbers worked through some pretty horrible weather conditions to get this nest constructed. It is very much dependent on teamwork to make a project like this happen. Thank must go to Joanna for tirelessly monitoring all the camera feeds and compiling her regular updates.

One of the Osprey nests that we look after in Kielder Forest is now live streaming.

At this point the female is awaiting the return of her partner.

The weather this Easter weekend is not looking much fun for the birds as they return from West Africa but spring will be here soon enough and they will get down to the serious business of breeding.
