❤️ Poppy & Corbyn ❤️

The adorable story of Poppy...

I met Poppy approx 6 years ago. Her owners reached out to me as they were struggling to manage her. Being a rescue, they didn't know what Poppy had been through, but whatever it was meant that she could be very aggressive with other dogs. They couldn't take her out in public as she would attack other dogs or as they described 'be a beast'.

When we first met, she lived near Freedom Fields in Plymouth, which happens to be somewhere I spent a lot of my days when I was 'growing up' 🤣. I'd take Poppy over to my old stomping ground and slowly tried to help desensitise her to other dogs. At that stage Poppy would not back down from a scrap and once I even had to put her over the other side of a fence, to keep her away from another aggressive dog.

I worked out that Poppy was much better with male dogs than bi***es. I also noticed that she was usually just being possessive over something she was precious over.

Poppy's owners and I hatched a plan to socialise Poppy with friendly, well mannered, male dogs, to start with. I also removed items that she would get possessive over, which may cause a reaction to other dogs. We then slowly allowed Poppy to explore those interactions for herself, with no issues.

She gradually started to see other dogs as friends and companions, like minded often, and even buddies she could play with.

We have since gradually introduced different environments and scenarios... until now... a well rounded, trustworthy, happy, content and sociable dog. YEAAAAHHHH BOOOY!

This video is of Poppy playing with a young bouncy dog called Corbyn. Corbyn is an adorable but highly annoying moron! He's well trained, but young and very irritating! All of Poppy's previous triggers, wrapped up in one bundle of kn****ad loveliness! But see how she's not triggered by him, in fact she's very fond of him. This is only their second time meeting eachother!!!

Love a happy ending!!!

Well done to Poppy and her committed parents. ❤️❤️❤️

DOG TRAINING AROUND LIVESTOCK

Hello lovely people,

After the success of the last livestock training, I've decided to offer another.

I have a rare and exciting opportunity, that I’ve been working on for a little while.

Living in and around rural Devon, we are fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful dog walking spots. This does however put us in close proximity to moorland, farms and livestock etc.

A dog that worries, attacks or chases livestock is contravening the Dogs Act of 1953. This is punishable by a hefty fine, compensation and possibly a destruction order. A farmer can also, lawfully shoot a dog caught worrying his or her livestock.

Having had this issue with my own dogs and dogs I’ve worked with, I know how much of a problem this can cause. I have now successfully trained many dogs in this area, and am sure it would prove to be very valuable for many of you and your companions, along with helping to support our local farming community.

For this reason, I’ve teamed up with some local farmers and dog handlers, and will be offering dog training around farm livestock, and in particular sheep and cows.

It will be on Saturday 13th of November and will include taxi service for your dog, to and from your house (depending on your location). It will be purely reward based training, with the aim of improving your companions behaviour around unfamiliar livestock.

The training will be in slots, either from 9am till 12pm or 1pm till 4pm. The cost will be £100, but no charge if the training shows no results. Fully insured and a certificate for the dogs who take part in the course.

Please let me know if this is of interest to you and we can discuss it further. Limited spaces, so first come first served.

Thanks for your ongoing love and support.
