With scammers out there becoming more convincing every day, it’s important to stay cautious online. A few simple checks can help keep your accounts, information and money safe. Here are a few tips to help:
1. Check the sender
Always look carefully at the email address or phone number a message has come from. Scammers can make messages look very convincing, so check the details rather than relying on the name shown.
2. Be careful with links
Don’t click links in unexpected emails or messages. If you’re unsure, go directly to the company’s official website instead of using the link provided.
3. Never rush a payment
Be especially careful if someone is asking you to transfer money urgently, change bank details or make a payment you weren't expecting. Stop and independently check the request before sending anything.
