One Industry, One Message:
Now is the time to back Independent Retailers.

The model railway industry, though small and sometimes challenged, has consistently adapted and evolved. It has withstood world wars, global recessions, and pandemics. While famous brands have come and gone, the core strength remains: the independent model shop, a sector recognised as the most vital component by those who understand the industry best.

Our industry is special because its retail foundation is built almost entirely on independent British businesses. These shops, spread across the nation, serve the community both online and through unique, essential physical retail spaces.

Independent model shops are the lifeblood of the model railway community. We value the crucial relationships between manufacturers, retailers, and customers. We are more than just a place to buy products; we are essential hubs of knowledge and face-to-face support, all driven by a shared, deep-seated passion.

We face the common pressures of all UK businesses, compounded by new challenges like market disruption and restrictions on product availability.

For years, retailers have been instrumental in building brands by:

- Showcasing products to both seasoned modellers and newcomers.
- Providing crucial expert advice and comprehensive after-sales support.
- Actively supporting and attending industry events, exhibitions, and trade shows.
- Fostering the powerful sense of community that defines this special hobby.

Partnering to launch new products that might otherwise never have been developed. Our industry is a delicate ecosystem. Like the environment we inhabit, every element is essential. Remove key components, and the system collapses - it withers and dies because its custodians failed to protect it. Imagine a hobby with no visibility: no shops, no exhibitions, and no clubs - where everything is conducted in isolation online. That’s not what we want for the future - do you?

We are unwavering in our commitment to offering the extensive range of products needed to sustain this hobby in a positive and responsible way. If the hobby is to survive into the future it can only be done through collaboration. Our message is simple - keep modelling small, but make our hobby bigger!

With the forecast weather looking a bit uncertain today (warnings for snow and/or rain, who knows!), Mark's Trains has 50149 'Defiance' and the Peterborough based Beilhack Ploughs ADB966098 & ADB966099 at the ready in case we see a foot of snow in Peterborough. Although it is likely we will be rained on instead :(

And that's a wrap! We are officially closed for the Christmas break to enjoy some well-deserved rest, and we will be back on January 5th, 2026!

We want to extend our warmest wishes to all our customers for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We appreciate your support throughout the past year; it has been a challenging trading year, but we are hopeful that 2026 will bring better times.

We received our shipment of Accurascale Class 66s this morning. All pre-orders, except for those that were cancelled, have been dispatched today.

We still have a good number available, all in DCC-Ready versions, which can be equipped with one of our ESU LokSound decoders if needed, at the cost of the decoder.

Great news, the Pannier Tanks and second run of Class 66s from Accurascale are on their way to us and should be here within the next week or so. The Panniers will be delivered first.

Both the Class 66s and Pannier Tanks are sold out on pre-order with Accurascale. We have limited numbers of Panniers available to purchase, and a healthy stock of Class 66s available.

Our visitors are more than welcome to have a Tea or Coffee with some biscuits, feel free to ask Mark for one. He would be more than happy to provide you with a refreshing drink this winter, to help keep you feeling warm inside.

Toilets are also available on site too, should you need to relieve yourself before your return journey home.

Friendly reminder - please refrain from visiting if you are feeling unwell or contagious.

Coughs and sneezes spread germs and diseases!

As we enter the colder months, we also face the onset of coughs, colds, and the flu season. Additionally, some individuals are still showing symptoms of COVID. We truly enjoy sharing our time with you (after all, sharing is caring), but we respectfully ask that you keep your germs to yourself while you are experiencing symptoms.

We frequently interact with a significant number of vulnerable individuals, and we would hate to put them at risk. Moreover, Mark cannot afford to fall ill as there is no backup staff for the workshop. If he becomes contagious, it would force the workshop to close, leading to unexpected delays in jobs and orders.

While this may seem like common sense to many, we still feel the need to remind you to stay home, recover, and feel better before visiting.

Next weekend, Andrew and I (Mark) will be attending the Spalding Model Railway Exhibition at the Springfields Events Centre, PE12 6ET.

The doors will open at 10:00 on both days and will close at 17:00 on Saturday and 16:30 on Sunday.

You can find us in the same location as last year, which is stand 13 in Hall 2.

Locating us is very easy; we've highlighted the fastest route on the map below! However, you might also enjoy taking the scenic route to explore all the layouts first.

We look forward to seeing you there, if you can make it.

Today is the last call for Accurascale Class 92 pre-orders. Orders must be placed with us before 17:00 to guarantee allocation. So to ensure that you don't miss out, please let us know your order requirements before this time.

A small deposit of £25.95 (£20 plus postage) is all that is required for now to secure your order, the rest will only be due when the models are in stock.

DCC Fitted models are £229.94 and DCC Sound Fitted models are £299.95.

Two weeks ago we announced that Accurascale have launched their second run of 92s and Manor Class locomotives.

The order book for the Class 92s will close on Friday 10th October. The order books for the Manors have already closed.

The pre-order window for these is less than a couple weeks, so it is advised to place your order requirements quickly to avoid disappointment.

All livery variants (both DCC and Sound Fitted) are listed on our website and avaiilable to pre-order.
