A look back at MLx Health & Bio β€” OxML 2026

Over four days in Oxford, MLx Health & Bio brought together researchers, clinicians, engineers and scientists working at the intersection of machine learning, healthcare and biology.

The programme explored topics ranging from electronic health records, digital health and cardiovascular diagnostics to geometric deep learning, sensor-based foundation models, single-cell biology, genomics and biomedical discovery.

The academic programme was only one part of the experience. Participants also took part in:
🚢 Oxford walking tours between sessions
🀝 Socials and conversations across the community
πŸ“Š Poster sessions, where researchers presented their own work and discussed it with peers and speakers

Day 1 of the MLx Health & Bio track at OxML | Oxford Machine Learning School 2026 was huge success! πŸ‘

We heard from three phenomenal speakers pushing the boundaries of AI in biomedicine:

🎀 Professor Christopher Yau (University of Oxford) opened with "Building More Robust AI" exploring what it takes to make AI trustworthy enough for real-world healthcare.
🎀 Dr Emma Robinson (King's College London) followed with "Geometric Deep Learning for Biomedical Modelling & Simulation" making the case for meshes and graphs over grids in modelling the body.
🎀 Professor Sarah Teichmann (University of Cambridge) closed the day with "Human Cell Atlas, Data Science & AI" charting the path from single cells to a future virtual human.

From robustness to geometry to atlasing the entire human body... day 1 covered extraordinary ground! Huge thanks to all three speakers for kicking off MLx Health & Bio in style. Roll on Day 2! 🧬
