🚨 Cyber Alert: Active Phishing Campaign Targeting Local Businesses
The Cyber Security Centre (CSC) is warning all Isle of Man organisations about an active and ongoing phishing campaign that has already led to multiple compromised email and cloud accounts across the local business community.
These phishing emails are highly convincing, often appearing to come from familiar contractors or customers and framed as bids, tenders, or procurement requests. There is growing concern that more organisations may already be compromised without knowing it.
⚠️ What the attackers are doing:
Once they obtain login credentials, attackers may:
Access email and cloud systems
Monitor activity silently for days
Use compromised accounts to phish trusted contacts
Escalate access or target financial systems
Compromises may go undetected until malicious emails are sent from the affected account.
✅ Immediate Actions for All Organisations
Treat any unexpected procurement‑style email as high‑risk
Ensure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is enabled and enforced
Review recent sign‑ins for unusual locations or timings
Check for suspicious mailbox rules or unknown sent items
Look for unusual cloud storage access or downloads
Confirm no unauthorised access to admin or privileged accounts
🧑💼 Staff Reminders
Don’t trust unexpected emails with links or attachments
Sender names and email addresses can be spoofed
Verify the source before opening anything
Report suspicious emails immediately
Be aware that local organisations have already been compromised
📄 A full advisory, including an example phishing email, is available on the CSC website under News & Advisories.
