🔍 Do you automatically click the first result on Google?

You might want to look twice.

Scammers can buy search ads using the names of trusted companies and popular software, putting their fake websites above the genuine result.

Click the wrong one and you could end up on a convincing fake website designed to steal your login details or trick you into downloading malware.

The good news? A few simple habits can make a big difference:
🔹 Scroll past the Sponsored results
🔹 Download software directly from the official website
🔹 Bookmark important sites such as Microsoft 365 and online banking
🔹 Keep your devices and browsers up to date
🔹 Make sure your team knows what to look out for

Our latest blog explains how malicious search ads work and why the top result isn't always the one you should trust.

Your laptop has antivirus. But is that enough?

Modern cyber threats don't always behave like traditional viruses. Good endpoint security helps protect the laptops and computers your business relies on every day.

🌐 Is your business website putting you at risk?

Your website might look perfectly fine - but when was the last time anyone checked what’s happening behind the scenes?

For many small businesses, outdated WordPress plugins and themes can leave security gaps that attackers actively scan the web looking for.

A compromised website could be used to spread malware, create scam pages, steal information entered into forms or redirect your customers elsewhere, sometimes without you even realising it’s happened.

In our latest blog, we look at some simple ways to reduce the risk, including:

🔹 Keeping WordPress, plugins and themes updated
🔹 Removing old or unused plugins
🔹 Securing admin accounts with strong passwords and MFA
🔹 Keeping reliable website backups
🔹 Making sure someone is actually responsible for maintaining your site

If you're not sure who's looking after your website security, it's probably worth finding out.

🦠 Malware has changed – has your business security kept up?

Viruses aren't the only threat businesses need to think about anymore.

Today's malware can hide in legitimate-looking downloads, operate without leaving a traditional file behind, steal passwords and sensitive information, or even lock businesses out of their own data.

In our latest blog, we explain 7 types of malware small businesses should know about, including:

🔄 Polymorphic malware that changes to avoid detection
👻 Fileless malware that can be harder to spot
🔒 Ransomware that can lock you out of business data
🎭 Social engineering attacks designed to trick employees
🕵️ Spyware that can quietly collect sensitive information
🐴 Trojans disguised as legitimate files or software
⚠️ Rootkits that can give attackers hidden access

More importantly, we look at the practical steps small businesses can take to reduce the risk – from keeping devices updated and using MFA to protecting Microsoft 365, maintaining reliable backups and helping employees recognise suspicious activity.

It might be more than you think.

Printers, security cameras, smart TVs, door-entry systems, speakers and other connected devices can all make the workplace more convenient – but they can also introduce additional security risks if they're not properly managed.

In our latest blog, we take a practical look at 𝗜𝗼𝗧 (𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀) security and some straightforward steps small businesses can take to stay protected.

We cover:
🔎 Knowing what's connected to your network
🔐 Changing default passwords
📶 Separating smart devices from important business systems
🔄 Keeping devices and firmware updated
🚫 Limiting unnecessary access and features
🗑️ Knowing when older, unsupported equipment needs replacing

You don't need to be a cybersecurity expert. Good security often starts with simply knowing what you've got and making sure it's properly looked after.

🏠💻 Is your home office as secure as your main office?

With home and hybrid working now part of everyday business life, keeping company data secure isn't just about passwords, antivirus and MFA.

Something as simple as leaving a laptop unlocked while you make a cup of tea could give someone access to your emails, customer information, OneDrive, accounts and other business systems.

Our latest blog looks at Clean Desk 2.0 – some simple, practical habits that can help small businesses keep their home-working environments secure.

We cover:
🔒 Locking your screen when you step away
💻 Keeping business and personal devices separate
📄 Protecting confidential paperwork
📶 Keeping home Wi-Fi and devices secure
💾 Using business storage safely
♻️ Knowing when older technology should be replaced

They're small changes, but getting the basics right can make a big difference.

The good news is that deleting a file doesn't always mean it's gone forever.

In our latest blog, we explain what actually happens when you delete a file, when it might be possible to recover it, and why having a reliable backup is so important for small businesses.

We also look at:
💻 What happens after you empty the Recycle Bin
☁️ OneDrive and Microsoft 365 recovery options
💾 The difference between SSDs and traditional hard drives
🔒 Why simply deleting files isn't enough when disposing of old PCs
✅ Why a good backup is always better than relying on file recovery
If your business relies on its files and data every day, it's worth a few minutes of your time.
