Portfolio: Peer Research Academy.

As well as a great-looking website, this project required particular care over how they represent the people they're for.

The Peer Research Academy, commissioned by the Wellcome Trust and delivered by the University of Nottingham, connects researchers with lived experience of mental health issues, substance use, and neurodiversity, and supports the work they do through funding, training, and events.

Working with the Institute of Mental Health again, we knew that the imagery and tone required sensitive handling. We gave the team three branding concepts to choose from, then built a vibrant, easy-to-use website around it, using icons to break up the text and keep things accessible. The stories section lets authors submit multiple pieces, and news and events are built right into the site.

Showcase: Cultivate Innovation

Not every website needs building from scratch. Some just need someone to look after what's already there, and help it grow.

Cultivate Innovation, a Nottingham-based consultancy supporting low-carbon energy solutions, already had a website they were happy with. What they needed was ongoing support with website maintenance and regular content in the form of blog posts and case studies.

We migrated the site onto WordPress for extra flexibility, then built a custom care package around it. As well as keeping everything running smoothly, we now provide content on a regular basis, and manage the site's sustainability certification as a partner of the Eco Friendly Web Alliance.

Innovate UK is changing how it supports businesses.

The agency is moving from spreading funding thinly across thousands of applicants to backing a much smaller, more selective group. This means a drop from around 10,000 businesses a year to roughly 3,000.

If you're prepping a funding application (or planning to), ""good enough"" pitches aren't going to cut it anymore. Innovate UK will expect a sharper, better-evidenced case for why you deserve backing.
