This week saw another Ajax smart surveillance system installed to multiple properties in Norwich.

The external cameras featuring 24/7 colour images even in the lowest ambient light conditions installed to protect the external areas of the properties including shared walkways and car parking areas.

The recording and networking equipment for the system was fitted inside a secure ventilated cabinet and allows off-site viewing and playback of the images.

There are security alarm systems and there are "smart" security systems.

A smart security system can use multiple devices to verify that an intruder is actually in your home or business, allowing the security system to contact key holders, guarding companies or the police. The system can automatically provide you with crucial information such as photographic evidence and use the same technologies to prevent false alarms and give you a true piece of mind that your property is secure.

A scenario of this can be that your security system is triggered by an intruder roaming about your garden looking for a way in to your home. An external motion detector that can tell the difference between vehicles, humans and animals detects the intruder, this sounds the alarm at your property, turns on your external lights and a camera takes a snapshot and sends it straight to your mobile device which also alerts you to the event.

Have you ever wondered how to correctly wire a 13 Amp plug in the UK?

Ensure the blue, brown and green/yellow cables are exactly as shown in this image.

The fuse size is important and should be either 3 Amp (red) or 13 Amp (brown) depending upon what you are connecting to it.

Typically anything under 700 watts should be fused at 3 Amps such as lights whereas anything up to 3000 watts should be fused at 13 Amps.

Anything greater than 3000 watts or 3Kw should be connected to a dedicated circuit, not a 13A plug.

If in doubt, always consult a qualified electrician.
