One of the keys to having AI understand your site is your Schema Markup. This tells Google (and other AI) what your services are, where you are based and how your pages are related to each other without it need to even read your website.

It's probably more important to AI reading your site than your actual site structure is (but it's not visible to viewers.)

There's a bunch of plugins that already do this, but most a lot are overcomplicated to fully set up, so I've been working on a much simpler way to do this.

A simple plugin that will build the Schema for not just your business details, but your service offerings simply by filling in a few easy to follow fields. It will also add basic Article Schema to your blog posts automatically.

It will then allow you to link your supporting blog posts to the specific Service Schema at the click of a button (This is something most of the big plugins don't even do).

And since I know Yoast is used by a lot of my clients, which already marks up blog posts, but does not link them with services. I've made sure it is fully compatible with Yoast and will inject that functionality into the Yoast options.

I'll be launching this soon, completely free!

Big changes on how Google is going to be using the search bar ahead. And there's lots of info being shared around, but at it's core, is the same thing Google have been saying for years.

But there's no reason to panic, no one should be making drastic changes to their website, or worrying about any SEO work they've already done. Because it's building on what Google have been saying for a long time now - what they want is unique, helpful content.

No, the search results page isn't going away. But, Google are expanding the use of both the AI Overview, and how the search box works. The AI Overview will appear for more search types, rather than just for "conversational" searches.

The search bar will expand depending on the type of search you input, allowing people to drill down further into topics from their initial search, rather than starting again.

But *how* the user searches will largely determine this. If someone searches for "Wedding Photographer in Northumberland" - You will get a list of links as you do now, so your SEO will still need to be optimised for services and locations.

However, if they search "Who is the best Wedding Photographer in Northumberland?" or similar, it is more likely to give a more conversational AI based result. Leaning more on reviews, mentions by other businesses etc.

So your strategy shouldn't change, but the use of blogs and properly structured FAQs is going to become more important, not just for targeting additional locations or specific venues, but for answering the types of questions people may be asking AI.

Doing Keyword Research is going to need to expand to researching questions people are most likely to ask, and answering them fully.

But none of this is different to what Google have been asking for for years, it's just now even more important.

Bottom line is that yes, how people use search is evolving. It is going to mean moving with it, or losing out. But do not rush into big changes and ditching what you've already been working on, you need to be adding to it, not replacing it.

If you want a place to start researching what people might be asking AI about your services, then I recommend creating a free account on Answer The Public:

Use AnswerThePublic to uncover the real questions people ask across different platforms. With the new AI Dashboard, you can also discover how AI describe your keyword.
