Black Friday is fast approaching, and for us that means one thing; Black Friday Bring & Buy Bonanza!
For the last three years we’ve done Black Friday a bit different from the norm. Rather than encourage everyone to buy more brand new stuff, we like to provide a place for you to sell some of your older tabletop gaming goods, in exchange for credit for use in venue. It’s also a great place to pick up some absolute bargains. To top it all off we use the event to help raise money for a local charity!
This year our chosen charity is Norfolk and Waveney Mind
We’ve worked with them in the past and feel that as the nights get longer and the skies get a bit more gloomy, now is a great time to raise some funds for them.

In 2022 we applied to host a Satellite Tournament, only four places in the UK were given the honour, us included.
Now, although not as grand as we had intended, our Satellite Tournament is happening, and we’re calling it The Nanosatellite; it’s an official Satellite, but just a little smaller scale than the rest 😅.
The Nanosatellite is being held on Saturday 1st July and will commence at 1100.
The event will have a maximum of 22 participants, and will take place over the course of just one day, making things a little easier for those planning on travelling.
As an added bonus, this event is taking place on our businesses 5th year birthday celebrations, and we’ll have other events going on late into the evening that you’ll be more than welcome to join in on.
This event is kindly being run by local infinity legend; Ben Walker. It’s going to be a great fun day and who knows, you may even win yourself a slot at the Interplanetario!
Tickets are available through our webstore now:

We video’d this for the return of The Games Table TV but got so excited we thought we’d just get it straight out there!
Our 5th Birthday Celebrations are coming up at the end of this month and the start of next (June 30th - July 2nd) and one of the events we’re going to be running is a Chaos Draft on Friday 30th, for our Magic the Gathering community.
In this video we reveal more details on the event and one of the participation prizes you’ll receive just by coming along.
Tickets will be live on our webstore from 2300 tonight and in-venue from 2100!

Important Customer Announcement:
From day one I have always been open and honest with you, our community. This is sometimes quite hard for me to do as it shows a vulnerability, and I don’t like doing that.
Today I need to tell you that we are struggling.
We are struggling financially under the weight of increased costs and pandemic debt. Over the next month we are going to be making changes to ensure the business can continue to survive and thrive.
Indeed, we are always so pleased to hear your positive comments on our space and our customer service. We strongly believe that this business is good for our city and will keep struggling on as long as we can.
The first change isn’t a massive one, but it has a fairly big impact on us. It’s the introduction of a one drink per 2 hour minimum. So if you’re playing for our standard four hour booking, you’ll be expected to buy two drinks each in that time. That’s not a big ask. Currently this year we’re on about 1.6 drinks per person, last year it was 1.7. If we’d sold 2 drinks per person last year we’d have made enough extra money to cover the rent and business rates for two months, or almost a months worth of wages. All for just expecting our customers to buy one drink every 2 hours, it’s not much.
There will be other price changes coming and they are essential to the survival of the business and so I hope you will get behind us with this move.
Kieran
We’ve put in a planning application!
Yes, it’s the last part of the venue where we haven’t added our touch to yet; the back corridor / toilet area. It’s taken some time and there’s still a way to go but we’re making progress!
The toilet is a weak point of our business currently, but I decided early on to prioritise the place where you spend 99.5% of your visit; the actual venue area itself. This is definitely something I don’t regret. Thank you to those that have shown patience and understanding with us about this.
Once the plans get approved, and the work is done, we’ve got to their exciting improvements on their way 😉.
In other news… I’ve got a dog! As a dog friendly venue I’m happy to say he’ll be appearing in venue soon (as soon as he’s fully vaccinated). He’s super keen to meet you all.
Kieran
