We’re now selling on Vinted!

From some old out of print novels, Kickstarter edition board games, as well as some promo goodies we got as a store.

We’re adding more stuff each day and even have some custom things in the works that fans of our old store might appreciate.

Finally, a note on our dispute with the landlord; a court claim is in. At the moment I’m not going to share any more details than that. At a later date, when appropriate, I will be talking about my experiences in more detail and sharing information that is of relevance to the general public.

Thanks to the new owner of 14-16 Lower Goat Lane (thank you Daniel!), we were recently allowed in to our old home to collect some of our items that the old landlords had left when they sold the premises. A number of our board games were still there and now Norwich Games Convention is their new home. We hope they’ll continue to bring fun and laughter to people.

There were also a number of tables and chairs left there and we’ll be trying to sell them in the near future.

Our Landlords actions caused us irrecoverable damage and so selling these items is our only option, being able to sell them to good new homes makes it easier.

On a personal note, thank you to everyone that has reached out to me personally since last October, it has helped keep me going.

BIG NEWS AT NGCHQ, with massive thanks to The Games Table. Our board game library just got a whole lot bigger thanks to a last-minute deal in which we've acquired a substantial chunk (the cream of the crop) of TGT's board game library. More games than we know what to do with coming to the Open Gaming Area on Saturday!

New problems to solve later: how to transport all these games, how to organise all these games, where to store all these games, how to communicate this properly rather than just the photo of Randy Savage I wasn't supposed to use.

Last week we launched a new discord server for our growing MTG community. It’s to provide a place to discuss the hobby for not just those in Norwich, but also the wider UK, whilst also allowing us to share exciting new products The Games Table is working on.

Hey everyone, I hope 2025 is going well for you all 🙂.

Our website has been updated, to a simple one pager with links to our sales sites and some information on where we currently stand.

In a nutshell; I am still planning to take our Landlords to court for Wrongful Forfeiture, the process is just taking some time and I can’t really share any more details on that.

One thing that has kept me going over the last few months is… surprise, surprise… tabletop gaming and more specifically in my case Magic the Gathering.

This hobby, in its many forms, is basically socialising with others over a shared fun experience. It’s provided me with fun and laughter throughout my life, from growing up as a kid, downtime with my team mates whilst in Afghanistan, and now it provides me with a weekly catch up with friends (many of whom worked at The Games Table with me). The power of the hobby is truly immense. I hope you are also still able to enjoy it, whether it’s at or at any of the local clubs in the area, I hope you’re still all getting your fix 🙂.

The content of The Games Table is going to change for the forseeable, as I’ll be focusing on content for those that have been buying Magic cards off our CardMarket site. It doesn’t mean TGT as we know it is gone forever, it’s just on hold until I can get it to court.

For everyone that ever visited our space, thank you, it was a great time.

Magic players!

Last year we started selling singles in-venue and it was great. Well, now we’ve started adding our singles stock to Card Market 🤗. Obviously I’d much rather sell them in-venue to you all but because of the current situation that is obviously not possible 😢.

So please check out our account (The-Games-Table) over on CardMarket.com and make a purchase if you can. We’d love some positive interactions on there to help us get our singles in front of more people.

As for the venue, sorry for not putting out any updates recently. I’m currently in communications with our insurers to see what legal cover and business interruptions we can receive for all of this. When I have a better understanding I’ll be sure to tell you all about it 🙂. Until then, please support us by making a small purchase if you’re able, and also by sharing our Card Market page with your friends.

Everything happened so quickly and we went from having one of the best Tuesday nights of the year to being locked out, literally overnight. No one got a chance to say anything face to face (TGT was always about providing a space to meet face to face) and that makes us sad.

So we thought we’d put on a little informal social type thing. A few of our team will be at the Plough (St Benedict’s Street) from 1800 on Wednesday 18th December and we’d like to invite you along to say hi to us and also the rest of the community 🙂.

We promised an online sale and here it comes…

The last month has been quite the rollercoaster (the type when you instantly know you’re not going to enjoy the ride 😂) and we still don’t know what the future holds for the business.

We’ve got plenty of stock though and lots of people have expressed an interest in buying some items off us (thank you) and so we’re going to be launching a bit of a sale from tomorrow.

Initially, the available items will be mainly board games and card games. As time goes on we’ll be adding more items, including various RPG and miniature game products. So if you don’t see something you’d like, please do pop back later in the month.

The sale will be online only and it will also be delivery only.

Thank you to everyone that has sent messages of support, they’re all really appreciated. I’m sorry for not getting back to everyone but the last month has been a bit of an emotional nightmare and I’ve found it hard to focus at times.

We’ve also got something little planned as a sort of social, more details on that shortly.

Update time;

If you’ve walked past the venue over the last couple of days, you may have noticed some things have gone.

Sadly, we were not able to reach an amicable agreement with the landlord and so have removed what items we could within the cost and time constraints they placed upon us.

As I said before, this isn’t necessarily the end, I will be taking this matter to the courts but it will likely be a lengthy process.

In the meantime, we’re going to get all of our stock onto our website over the next few weeks, and have a BIG pre-Christmas sale! So keep your eyes peeled for that.

I would also like to keep some of our regular events going, but with everything that’s happened I just haven’t had the time to sort those out yet. Again, please keep your eyes open for news on that front.

Thanks again for all the support you’ve been sending us, it’s been a very difficult, and quite brutal time for all involved, and your positive messages have helped a lot.

Some important, and sad, news about the future of this little business…

I’ve always been honest and forthright with our customers about the operations of The Games Table, for better or for worse. So, today I think it is important I do the same.

In the early hours of this morning our landlords took the decision to retake control of the premises due to arrears for rent and buildings insurance.

Sadly, I did not know this was on the cards. Following a recent meeting with the estate agents to discuss the repayment, I believed the landlords were happy with our proposed plan for repayment.

I am trying everything I can to rectify the situation with them so we can get back on track to paying this off and providing a great place for people to enjoy tabletop games together. I am not sure I will be able to though.

Either way, if this is the end of TGT, I have taken steps to ensure the team get paid in full and have as much support off us as possible.

What does this mean for customer orders, loyalty points etc. I am not sure currently, but I will be working on this.

Thank you from all the team and myself for all the good times, I really hope it isn’t the end, but sadly it might be.
