Making merch ‘shiny’ is probably one of the most unforgiving printing techniques.

We learnt traditional hot foiling in the early days of our printing journey. We knew it was going to be a tough one to crack when someone we worked with at the time was still learning after 20 years.

There is zero room for error with hot foiling. The pressure, the temperature and the foil all have to be spot on. (And yes, there are different foils for different materials.)

When you’re foiling on a manual machine, the hit has to be just right. Get it wrong and the foil either doesn’t adhere properly or it bursts, and those crisp lines disappear.

Despite everything that can go wrong, we still do it in-house.

It’s part of who we are, so these machines aren’t going anywhere. Partly because we genuinely love the process... and partly because they weigh an absolute ton and we’re not moving them again.

Reflecting back to our live embossing activation for MINI UK & TRO

4 days at Goodwood FOS. 5,000 keyrings. 4 bespoke designs.

Visitors to the impressive MINI UK village got to emboss their own personalised keyring as part of the treasure hunt, creating a genuinely interactive experience they could take away with them. The activation generated huge exposure as well as over 1m+ views across Instagram & Tik tok, the feedback from the team was outstanding!

Still on cloud 9 after the incredible opportunity to deliver our live embossing activation at Goodwood for & .

Visitors taking part in the treasure hunt at the super popular MINI UK village received their own personalised embossed keyring, produced live by us at Merch Hive, with over 5,000 created across the event.

A huge thank you to MINI UK & TRO for having us. What an incredible event to be part of!
