Iโ€™ve been thinking about this question all week.

In content, โ€˜good enoughโ€™ is a moving target. For some people it means typo-free. For others it means perfectly on-brand, beautifully structured and read aloud three times before publishing.

โ€˜Just.โ€™

โ€˜I just wanted to check in.โ€™ โ€˜I just thought Iโ€™d share.โ€™ โ€˜Iโ€™m just a proofreader.โ€™

Itโ€™s one of the most common words in business writing - and one of the most quietly damaging. It minimises. It hedges. It tells the reader (and yourself) that what youโ€™re saying doesnโ€™t quite deserve full confidence.

Remove it, and watch what happens. โ€˜I wanted to check in.โ€™ โ€˜I thought Iโ€™d share.โ€™ โ€˜Iโ€™m a proofreader.โ€™ Suddenly, everything sounds more considered and more confident.
