From comms rooms to classrooms, it's been a busy week across multiple educational sites.

Our engineers have been delivering blown fibre infrastructure, Cat6A cabling, Wi-Fi and CCTV connectivity, containment works, cabinet refreshes and supporting wider network refresh programmes.

Lots of planning, plenty of cable, and some great progress made.

Delivery day 🚚☀️

We were playing a game of Tetris in the sun getting stock sorted for one of our projects next week… but we got it done 💪

First van loaded and heading to site.

Excel cabling components have now landed ready for two upcoming college network refresh projects.

Our scope includes:

• Blown fibre backbone infrastructure
• Cat6A cabling for Wi-Fi locations
• Cat6A connectivity for CCTV
• New data outlets
• Containment and power works
• Comms room improvements

We’ll also be supporting the deployment of Extreme switching and wireless access points as part of the wider upgrade.

Good projects start long before engineers arrive on site.

Site wide Wi-Fi outage? Back up and running the same day.

On a very cold and windy Monday our engineers attended a client site following a fibre infrastructure fault that had taken down both internal and external Wi-Fi services critical to day to day operations.

Using an OTDR, the team quickly identified the exact location of the fibre fault, supplied and installed a replacement fibre section, and restored connectivity with minimal disruption to the customer.

Once repairs were completed, we carried out full testing across the wireless infrastructure to confirm all access points were back online and operating as expected.

Fast fault finding. Practical engineering. Minimal downtime.

Back on site this week and into the next phase.

The team are continuing works on a long term rollout with a college in the South, now moving into blowing and splicing fibre across site.

Following earlier phases completing tube runs and containment, the focus now is on delivering a site wide blown fibre solution, progressing the infrastructure from groundwork through to live network.

Next stages will see a full cab relocation and refresh, as the project continues to move forward.

A solid team effort from design through to delivery, keeping everything on track and moving.

Our MD Mark Westley CNIDP spent yesterday at Mayflex’s London office and M-Tech demo suite getting a proper look at their data centre offer, now pulled together under the Elevate platform.

What’s clear is they’re moving beyond just cabling into a more joined-up DC infrastructure approach. Elevate brings fibre connectivity, racks, aisle containment, power and security into one integrated stack, rather than treating everything as separate components.

We had a walkthrough of the Elevate DCR rack range and containment systems, along with their high-density fibre distribution and open frame setups. All clearly built with install, access and real-world use in mind.

The secure caging and door systems stood out as well. Properly thought through from a physical security point of view, and something that could translate well into client comms rooms where access control and segregation are becoming more important.

On the cooling side, it’s partner-led (including nVent), but it fits into the wider design rather than feeling bolted on.

Overall takeaway, this is less about individual products and more about giving installers and operators a coherent platform to build from, especially as density and cooling demands keep ramping up.

Always worth getting hands-on with this equipment rather than relying on datasheets.

Another busy week across the business, with engineers on site delivering and pushing projects forward.

Behind the scenes, our design and consultancy team have also been supporting a large client, planning a mission critical network replacement project at short notice.

It’s a full team effort, from design through to delivery, keeping projects moving when it matters most.
