Happy Birthday to us!

5 years ago yesterday James Creese and I finally pulled the trigger and established The Cent.re Group Limited and what a journey it's been!

We've learned a lot about how to operate a business, what we want to sell and who we want as customers and suppliers, we've lost our office dog Ollie, and gained a different office dog Archie, grown our network (Joined London Internet Exchange), our assets, developed a strong and reliable supply chain, survived unprecedent economic turmoil and still turned a profit, established a sister brand Uptime Allies to better market our ISP services, that works alongside itcent.re's managed services, implemented new technologies into our stack and introduced our customers to new technologies to help them work more reliably and safely.

We're putting all that experience to good use for 2024 and beyond, we've got a load of projects lined up for customers, we're going to be expanding the network with another point of presence, and we're in talks to onboard some alt-nets too!

Here's to the next 5 years! I wonder what we'll look like by then!

There is a rather serious vulnerability affected a number of commonly used routers in the UK, we've written a blog post that details the routers affected and steps to take to mitigate the vulnerability.

Earlier this week marked the third birthday of our business, and James & I would like to thank our family, friends, customers, contacts & industry colleagues for their continued help and support to get us through what has been another successful year, full of highs and unfortunately one terrible loss for us.

In late November Ollie Dog, our Barketing Manager passed away peacefully, in his favourite spot in the world, the sofa.

He’d been living with an illness (Cushing’s) for a while which was slowly impacting his quality of life, Ollie didn’t let this bother him though, those that knew him will know he was tough as old boots, still patrolling the neighbourhood even in his last days.

Ollie was a big part of our lives for his 9 years and will be sorely missed, especially his quiet nature, determination, aversion to baths & closed doors, his subtle hints that he wanted a bit of your food, his ability to fill a room with his presence and ability to empty the same room with a fart.

We wish you all the very best for 2022.

With the announcement yesterday that Ireland's state health services provider shutdown all of its IT systems in response to a ransomware attack, I thought it a good opportunity to share one of our recent blogs posts that includes advice on protecting your business from cyber attack.
