Enclave Networks Enclave simplifies and automates network management; reducing costs, increasing agility and improving security. enclave.io

Zero Trust Networking which reduces costs & complexity, automates management & improves security. NETWORK AUTOMATION & SELF SERVICE. As developers and operations teams break down silos and innovate faster, the ancient networks modern business still rely on quickly become the new bottleneck, acting as a drag on productivity and challenging transformation programmes. By automating the deployment of

private networks and connectivity, Enclave removes the operational and security limitations that come with VPN, allowing organisations to arm their DevOps teams to implement security and connectivity at the same speed they're writing code and deploying to cloud. ZERO TRUST NETWORK ACCESS
Enclave's Zero Trust Software-Defined Perimeter architecture allows you build connectivity without ACLs or open ports, keeping firewalls closed. Without listening ports, visible IP addresses or DNS records, your infrastructure goes dark to attackers. Need-to-know connectivity only links resources together after authentication and authorisation has taken place, so systems are protected from electronic observation and targeted cyber-attack. Build your own private Black Cloud with the ability to control, monitor, reconfigure and revoke network access anywhere in the world, in real-time.

Software Defined Perimeters V Zero Trust Overlay Networks? What's the difference?

At Enclave Networks we define our solution as Zero Trust Overlay Networks, . This is a not a common phrase in the industry, but it does elegantly capture the essence of what we do - Zero Trust Network Access combined with a simple, low friction, low cost architecture.

Of course, there are other ZTNA solutions, but how does ZTON compare to Software Define Perimeters , another common ZTNA solution?

The main architectural difference, is that ZTON does not require ANY changes to be made to the underlay network. SDP requires network perimeter devices, that act as reverse proxies to route traffic. Consequently, ZTON works well and scales in both and for , something that SDP can struggle with, being primarily a solution.

Moreover, unlike SDP, Enclave's ZTON is a Layer 2, Peer-to-Peer connection, offering Universal Protocol Support and providing superior functionality and flexibility.

Busy day for Enclave today, we've got a load of new features and improvements out, incl prot/port ACLs for traffic, support for Ephemeral systems (great for k8s or CI) and more.

There's so much there I had to write a blog post about all the new stuff!

Access Control Rules, Ephemeral systems and more!

What is Zero Trust Network Access and how is it different to ? Below is a useful definition of ZTNA from Gartner, which specifies that "applications should be hidden from discovery and access restricted via a trust broker to a set of named entities."

Typically, VPN servers (the gateways to private systems) are visible and accessible by anyone, anywhere, anytime on the internet. For example, at the time of this post, there were 5,406,840 VPN devices on Shodan with a public IP address that anyone can connect to.

With Enclave Networks, in line with principles, connection to private systems is only allowed once authentication has taken place. Moreover, Enclave is much simpler to deploy and manage than typical VPNs and works equally well with both and use cases.

,

Zero trust network access (ZTNA) is a product or service that creates an identity- and context-based, logical access boundary around an application or set of applications.

Good article here from TechTarget on replacing VPNs with Zero Trust Networks Access . Public exposing private systems like VPN servers on the public internet is just not a good idea.

Learn why zero-trust models are better at handling security risks than legacy VPNs, especially for organizations with remote employees and cloud users.

How can DevOps and DevSecOps teams achieve greater agility, given increasingly complex networking environments? Could emerging Zero Trust Overlay Networks be the answer?

Enclave helps DevOps and DevSecOps teams to build secure, policy-based pockets of end-to-end encrypted connectivity across any runtime, platform, public or private cloud. Even when firewalls, VMs, or containers are in between, Enclave just works.
- Grant development teams access to Kubernetes pods.
- Deploy multi-region micro-services without VPNs.
- Close firewall ports around RDP and SSH access.
- Build ephemerally connected CI/CD deployment pipelines.
- Replace brittle ACL-based access controls to jump boxes.
- Automate east-west connectivity between auto-scale groups.
