🖤Art Teachers need Art Teachers 👩‍🎨
A little throwback to July when I had the fantastic opportunity to become part of Art Teachers Connect through the University of Leeds. At the time I did this residential I was feeling very lost with my career after working through a 2yr whole school closure and having to physically empty and permanently close down the Art rooms I had spent years and years of my career in, then not really knowing where I was going next. The inspiration I gained from this three day residential was amazing and I am excited with the new routes my Arts are now taking me✨ University of Leeds

📸Mooching about with a camera again. Loving the post mainstream Art teacher life so far, not being in the rat race and actually having the time to breath with creativity instead of survive with it is …. bliss ✨

🌻 Beyond Van Gogh 🌻
Really enjoyed a mooch around this pop up exhibition but I have to admit, I proper to stare at the original painting, there is just so much more in an actual painting then a digital copy

🖤 CONNECT 🖤 …
Last week I had the pleasure of taking part in Art Teachers Connect at the University of Leeds…

A fantastic few days of revisiting my love of why Art Education if so important. A revamp of my interest in Art History and a brilliant networking opportunity to chat and idea share with a lovely group of fellow Arts educators. Having the space and opportunity to explore my photography practice and the darkroom again was so good for the soul. Really looking forward to bringing new ideas and opportunities into my practice. Thank you for the super workshops!

🖤EVOLVE🖤 ….
No Art classroom should have to look like this, but here we are…
Hello. I’m back!

I’ve been quiet on here lately. Two weeks ago I said farewell to my Art classroom. My professional base for 9yrs. This was not through choice! This was through a whole school closure decided by the local council. Effecting the whole community, not just Art education!

From starting there in a busy, creative Art department with a fabulous team to now just an empty shell! I am not going to rant, enough of my emotional strength has been drained from me over the last few years while working through this process. Putting on the game face for my students, colleagues, friends and family, somedays better than others. Physically clearing and emptying my Art room, then stripping the walls bare was absolutely the worst part! As every teacher knows, it’s not just a job.

So many memories made here, life experiences had and learning journeys completed, but I am taking all the positives with me and as one chapter closes in life, another begins….. 🌱

✨ Teach by Example ✨ Still on my inspo quest for my GCSE students. Enjoying the time to make lately. Exploring mixed media in this little canvas. Peek creative chaos time now and as always, just hoping they pull it out the bag in their 10 hours 🙈🤞🫟💪✨
