Christmas Angel Appeal 2023👼 Please Share
Hi everyone for the past seven years we have supported children’s social services with gifts for children that may not receive anything for Christmas. The idea came from an American movie called paper angels ran by the Samaritans.
Basically the children under the care of social services are given a paper angel to colour in and have a wish list from Santa. The children don’t know that they may receive the gifts requested.
Once we have the angels from social services they are placed on a Christmas tree in the pub and the public come and pick an angel that they can afford to buy for.
The presents bought are returned to the pub wrapped and the corresponding angel is tied to the present, this is then passed on to social services to take to the children.
Last year we did a record number of angels and needless to say the feedback from social services was heartwarming as the children were so excited to receive what they had asked for. Just to give you an idea what some of the children asked for last year, pyjamas, chocolate, dolls, makeup etc. Not a lot to ask for really and sometimes we take for granted the smaller things in life which can be massive to a child who may not receive anything.
Key dates:
Angels on tree Monday 27th Nov and presents back to social services by 11th December
Thank you for reading.
