We’ve been trialling some new creative tech in the Thomas Miller studio.
This mobile gem starts instantly, never needs charging and offers remarkably responsive pressure sensitivity. It’s compatible with most notebooks and, in experienced hands, can produce everything from a rough scribble to a brilliant idea.

There are, admittedly, a few limitations:
• No cloud backup
• Undo button is made of rubber
• Sharpening may be required, necessitating the assistance of a senior manager with previous experience and the presence of a Health & Safety officer due to sharp parts
• Occasionally disappears behind someone’s ear
• Compulsion to chew the end (resistance is useless)

Early testing suggests it works particularly well before anyone opens a laptop.
We’re calling it the Graphite Input Interface

Today we’re at the Edinburgh College of Art Graduate Show – one of the UK’s standout showcases for emerging creative talent. All the disciplines are here - graphic design, architecture, illustration, product design, fashion, photography and loads more, it's a brilliant snapshot of the new thinking, shaping the next generation of designers. Looking forward to seeing what catches our eye in today's preview.

Spring, you are working overtime to convince us it’s nearly summer, while the short-range forecast is showing clouds and rain. Spring, you are a great big tease - especially when we need a winter coat to come to work, a t-shirt just to sit in the office, and an umbrella to get a coffee. Stay focused everyone. One day very soon, we will all be wearing the correct clothing.
