As a proud Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Enterprise Partner, OSS benefits from opportunities such as the regular Partnership Event today.

Meeting to discuss learning and development challenges in the engineering and technology sector and hearing from Professionals at the leading edge of technology in both business and academia helps keep OSS moving forward and up to date with technological challenges and developments.

Some words from our Managing Director, Neil MacDonald who attended an event in London this week :-

“It was great being back at IET London for the IET Partnership Event today.

Starting the day with a Learning & Development Focus Group discussion, meeting industry peers to discuss our approaches to training engineers, addressing skills gap challenges and how the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) can help.

Then being treated to some fascinating lectures on the theme of Future Thinking: How digital innovation can solve societal challenges’.

Richard Hopkins, IBM Distinguished Engineer, treated us to some amazing facts spanning a scale ranging from global issues such as the world’s growing population and the ever growing power demand through to the molecular chemistry level and quantum computing. The new Osprey chip and it’s ability to perform more calculations than there are atoms in the observable universe multiplied by the entire mass of the universe in kilograms, was utterly mind blowing!

There were also great insights from Simon Hepworth from Imperial College London, Air Commodore Mike Wilson from the RAF and Andy Hughes from AGH Engineering.

It was also great to network and make contacts afterwards to round off another great IET Partnership Event.”
