I relate to this.... soo.....hard....

Who else has realised that they have some neurodivergent traits as they have got older?

I realised that I have ADHD when we started testing one of the boys.... it's "undiagnosed", but it answered a lot of questions (as well as creating loads of new ones.....)

Life is exhausting....

PS4 service and repair!

All PS4's yearn to be aeroplanes after a while (at least they start sounding like them!)

This PS4 came in for a no display fault, which was fixed by replacing the HDMI port and the HDMI encoder IC.

As with all of my repairs, a service is always included. All the dust, dirt and grime was cleared out, new thermal paste for the APU and new thermal pads for the RAM ICs.

The PS4 now runs as quiet as one of those new fangled electric car thingys (not sure they'll ever catch on!)

PS5 Servicing. It's really important to service PS5s regularly. Due to having to overclock their APU, and poor thermal design, Sony had to use liquid metal to assist with heat transfer to the heatsink.
As you can see in the pictures, dry spots occur over time, severely reducing efficiency and causing the APU to overheat. If this isn't dealt with, it can cause the APU to catastrophically fail, rendering the console useless. The issue occurs more frequently if you use your PS5 in an upright position.

PS5 servicing includes complete disassembly of the console, dust removal from heatsink fins and power supply, APU and heatsink clean and liquid metal re-application and outer shell cleaning.

All for £60

If you use the console daily, we recommend servicing every 12/18 months to keep it running efficiently and safely.

We also recommend positioning the console horizontally if you have space!

Bosch radar controller repair.

Customer sent this to me after his car had an argument with a bollard and lost....

I had to grind the plastic away and bridge each connections. Isolating the connections from the case with solder mask and then using jb weld to fix the connector back to the housing.

This is such an amazing shop! If you haven't been, I highly recommend it! Mark and his partner (sorry, I've never asked your name!) are building a great little community around collectables and tabletop gaming!

It's Switch Saturday!

First, a normal switch which came in for a port replacement, which after testing, we found charged fine. Customer will need a new charger, and I did change the left joycon analogue stick. But we were honest and advised that the port looks ok and charges fine.

Second, a Switch Lite that had been violated by an Apple lightning connector..... new charging port, new thermal paste, and a clean. It's now working perfectly!

Customer ripped the fan connector clean of this PS5 whilst trying to service it.

Repairing the connector in this way ensures that it is still super strong and won't fail the next time the PS5 is disassembled to service it.

Luckily for this customer we got to it just in time as the hot-spot on the APU and heatsink dies had almost reached critical mass! It took a long time to clean it up and get the liquid metal to adhere to both services.

This PS5 is ready for some serious gaming!
