This morning, I had the absolute privilege of attending the official opening of West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s brand-new headquarters! 🚒✨

I have worked closely with the communications team for several years, and over the past couple of years, we’ve been collaborating to brand the interior of the building, creating a distinctive look that really gives the building its own identity.

Walking around the building today, I couldn’t help but feel proud seeing the transformation, from an empty shell to a vibrant, bustling HQ full of energy and purpose.

It was also fantastic to finally meet James Vickerman and Gareth Hartley from Digital Plus Ltd, who have done an outstanding job installing the graphics.

Our client, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS), has outlined its strategic vision and key priorities for the next three years with the launch of the Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP). This comprehensive plan has been designed and professionally printed by Pepperdog. Additionally, the document is fully accessible and adheres to all relevant standards for screen-reader software, making it usable for individuals with visual impairments and ensuring inclusivity across the community.

Chief Fire Officer John Roberts says, “This document is more than just a document - it's our commitment to protecting lives, property, and the environment and achieving our overall goal of making West Yorkshire Safer. It’s been designed after months of careful planning and communication, both with our colleagues but also the wider public about what they want to see from their Fire and Rescue Service.

Our design process focuses on effectively communicating a company's successes, challenges, and goals through engaging and well-structured documents. We designed the Government Commercial Function annual report, which has been published today. The report is available digitally and features an interactive navigation menu to improve user experience and make it easier to access specific sections of the report.

With the arrival of warmer, drier weather, our client, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS), is back with its seasonal campaign for 2025. Pepperdog produces engaging and authoritative campaign assets designed to safeguard moorlands and rural communities from the increasing threat of wildfires.

If you spot a fire on moorland...
- Move to safe place and call 999 and ask for the Fire Service. Provide as much details as you can including size of fire, location, and terrain. You can also use the app – What3Words - for a precise location.
- Don’t tackle the fire.
- Self-evacuate the area as soon as possible – these fires can spread fast.
- If you see any suspicious activity or a fire that is been deliberately set, call 999 and ask for the Police.

Congratulations to all of the new firefighters! West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has been a client of ours since 2018. We designed and produced the banners and graduation programme for this special event - the first to be held at the new Headquarters in Birkenshaw. Pepperdog is also currently working on a large scale project to brand the interior of the new HQ!

Pepperdog is already collaborating with several UK government departments, and we are excited to announce our recent appointment by the Government Commercial Function (GCF) to design their annual report. This is a significant achievement for us, demonstrating our capability in designing reports for the public sector.

The Government Commercial Function (GCF) is a cross-government network consisting of around 6,000 civil servants procuring, or supporting the procurement of, goods and services for government.

We are thrilled to share that the report will be published next week during the Government Grants Management Conference. In addition to this, Pepperdog is also finalising the annual report for the Government Grants Management Function (GGMF), which will be launched at the same conference. It’s an incredibly busy and exciting time for Pepperdog.

Just had to share this...

There's a famous story of Pablo Picasso.

He was enjoying a meal at a restaurant when a man interrupted him, handed him a napkin and asked:

“Could you sketch something for me? I’ll pay. Name your price.”

Picasso took the napkin, pulled a charcoal pencil from his pocket and started sketching. Using only a few strokes, he drew a goat that was unmistakably a Picasso. He held it up for the man to see.

The man smiled and reached to take the sketch. But Picasso withheld it.

“That will be $100,000.” Picasso said.

The man was astonished. “$100,000?! You drew that in 30 seconds!”

Picasso crumpled up the napkin and stuffed it in his pocket.

“You're wrong.” he said. “It's taken me 40 years to do that.”
