Two roles still open at MCD Systems in Teesside - an AI/ML Engineer and a Junior Developer.

Both are new roles, both full-time at the Innovation Centre in Kirkleatham. You'd be working directly with the people using what you build.

Applications close Thursday 15 October.

We're taking on a Junior Developer at MCD Systems in Teesside. New role, early career.

You'd be on real client projects from the start, with a senior engineer alongside you - a toll payment app, course and certification apps, or the platforms our maritime clients train and certify people on. Mostly TypeScript and Next.js on the web, React Native on mobile, with some SQL.

You don't need years of experience. A degree, a bootcamp, a placement or a few personal projects you can talk about are all fine. We're after someone who is curious, asks questions and wants to get better.

Full-time at the Innovation Centre in Kirkleatham. Applications close Thursday 15 October.

We're after an AI/ML Engineer at MCD Systems in Teesside. New role, mid to senior.

Most of the work is taking LLMs and retrieval from something that works in a notebook to something that runs reliably in production for clients - the pipelines, the training setup and the APIs other systems call, as well as the models themselves.

A lot of it is document work: pulling structured information out of PDFs, scans and forms that were never designed to be read by a machine.

It sits on top of platforms already in daily use, so you'd be involved from the first conversation with the client through to the system running live. Full-time at the Innovation Centre in Kirkleatham.

Applications close Thursday 15 October.

MCD Systems is now Cyber Essentials Plus certified.

Cyber Essentials Plus is the UK Government-backed security standard, and unlike basic Cyber Essentials it's independently tested rather than self-assessed.

For our clients it means the platforms we host, the integrations we manage and the software we build all sit on an independently tested security baseline.

A good team effort to get us certified.

We’re proud to be sponsoring the Digital Student of the Year award at the Middlesbrough College Student Awards this year!

Middlesbrough College has been part of the MCD story for years. We sponsor a classroom in the MC Digital building, and one of our own, Max Croft, came through MC Digital before joining us on placement and later becoming a full-time software engineer. He’s now working towards his degree apprenticeship and doing a fantastic job.

Stories like Max’s are exactly why we’re proud to support events like this. When education and industry work together, great things happen, creating real opportunities and real careers right here in Teesside.

We’re gutted we can’t be there tonight, but we’d like to wish all the nominees the very best of luck. Enjoy the evening and congratulations on your achievements! 🎉

Off-the-shelf software is built for the average organisation.

If your competitive advantage comes from how you operate differently, why would you standardise that away?

We build custom platforms around your processes. Integrated with your ecosystem. Owned by you.

Pragmatic solutions for complex problems.

"Should we add AI to this?"

The question we hear most in client workshops.

Our answer: what business outcome are you trying to improve?

AI is powerful when applied to the right problems. Document processing, pattern recognition, decision support, predictive analytics. But it's not a strategy in itself.

We take a pragmatic approach - identifying where AI creates measurable value, and where simpler solutions deliver better ROI.

Technology should serve business outcomes. Not the other way around.
