THE AUGUST PROBLEM:
what happens to your enquiries while you're on holiday?
Most tradespeople turn booking time off because they're scared of missing calls. Fair enough — a missed enquiry can feel like a missed job.
But your website can hold the fort while you're away. It just needs three things set up properly:
→ An enquiry form that sets expectations. "We'll get back to you within 2 working days" beats silence every time.
→ An FAQ page answering the questions you'd normally handle on the phone — pricing ballpark, areas covered, how quickly you can start.
→ An auto-reply confirming the enquiry landed, with a rough timeline for your reply.
None of this replaces you. It just means a potential customer isn't left wondering if you got their message — while you're actually enjoying your break.
School holidays are starting across the UK. If your website can't do this yet, now's the time to sort it — not the week before you leave.
Is your site set up to hold enquiries while you're away, or does every lead go cold the moment you switch off?
