For 2023 - we are now fully retired from IT training.

We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - I'm a Melksham Town Councillor and take a great interest still in rail and bus topic too - the most active site being http://www.passenger.chat - the Great Western Coffee Shop Forum.

Stranger things can happen in real life than in fiction! 2020 and 2021 were planned to be newly retired years, with Lisa and I off to see places from Cardiff to Cadiz, and from Leeds to Leningrad. But here I am, offering you "exceedingly good online Python 3 courses" - see http://www.wellho.net/course/python3.html .

I trained for many years, built up an excellent customer base of organisations who used us as their first port of call when new staff needed open source training - we were always busy, but busy training and not busy selling and advertising because people came to us. The idea was then to go off and see the world, at about the time the training notes had become life-expired but before we were life expired. The practice of it, with lockdown, meant that I have been so busy writing code in Python 3 and PHP 7 that I'm ready, willing and able to deliver courses this year - and quality courses too. Lots of online presentation experience in the last 12 months, lots of wonderful new examples ... please see the link above or get in touch for more information. I'm 'majoring' on Python 3, ideally for small groups up to 14 people, but I may be able to help with PHP, or legacy code training for Perl, Tcl, Lua, Ruby, etc.

Python, Lua and Tcl public course schedule for Autumn 2017 / Spring 2018 at http://www.wellho.net/course/index.html . These public courses run at our training centre in Melksham, Wiltshire for small groups of delegates; there are two different courses for each language - one for newcomers to programming, and the other for experience programmers who are "converting" to a new language.

If you have 3 or more delagates looking for the same course at the same time, it's probaly more cost effective for us to come to you - happy to tailor courses to meet your needs, and to travel to your site to present the course. This options is also available if you have employees who cannot travel to our centre due to their family or other committments.

As from 1st July 2017, our public Python, Lua, Tcl and C / C++ courses will be run at our headquarters at 404, The Spa, Melksham to a schedule shown at http://www.wellho.net/course/index.html . On site courses at your offices also available - recommended if you have more than one delegate for the same training at the same time, or if family or other ties prevent your delegate from travelling to us. Some Perl, Ruby, PHP and Linux training also available on request - please ask - though we may not be using the latest language releases such as Perl 6. Also available - training on some intermediate and advanced topics. Please ask.

Our HQ and training centre at 404, The Spa is currently undergoing a re-organisation. We're located in a spacious Georgian Spa house with plenty of parking in a quiet area on the outskirts of Melksham, Wiltshire, yet with good public transport links and a blisteringly fast internet connection. Courses run at our Melksham, Wiltshire training centre; as most our subjects are 'niche' we offer overnight accommodation on site (but welcome day delegates too - plenty of parking and public transport right outside!)

If you've a group of three or more delegates requiring the same training at the same time, we'll come to you to deliver a tuned course to meet your exact needs. Good availability at present through the quieter summer period. You'll find pricing on our website, but please ask for details of tuning so we can work out what course content and length best suits you.

Same high quality, small group courses at reasonable prices, with different entry levels to suit YOUR needs.

We're based at Melksham in Wiltshire, at our specially fitted training centre. Overnight accommodation (hotel quality) is available on site as many of our subjects are niche and delegates come from far and wide.

As a teacher, I teach a lot of delegates and only hear from a few of them into the future. After all - it's my job to teach them to 'fly' and my role to stay onthe ground and teach the next lot too.

So it's really grattifying to bump into a delegate occasionally - as has just happened this Sunday evening on my way to Cambridge. Martin, who attended a Python course at Melksham a few years back, was telling me how he'd used it in his job for the employer who sent him, and now (in a new role with a new company) he's using it for his core work and for lots of other data manipulation too.

I'm delighted it working for him, that he's self supporting, and flattered that he recognised me. I'm afraid I failed to recognise him - which I can put partly down to my lousy memory, and partly down to the shere normallity of training and the number of people I see ... two Python courses again this week, for example.

Training on one of our courses is a short, sharp investment of time and money into learning a subject ... but what Martin learned over 4 days has made a significant difference to what he's doing now and going to still be doing 4 years later. If I was writing a sales pitch (!), I'ld be telling you to book now for your course in 2016, and you'll learn technologies and techniques that will take you forward to 2020, and probably way beyond.

We've run a training course every week since last Christmas (yes, that includes the week between Christmas and the New Year) save one ... and on the training side we're heading off on a well earned holiday. We'll be back in three weeks with an exciting program including:
