Your work bestie quits - are you going with them?

Last week HR Magazine reported that half of employees say they’d consider leaving if a close colleague resigned.
- 52% would consider leaving if a close colleague quit
- 32% feel more supported when they have a work best friend
- 27% say friendships matter more than pay increases (37% for Gen Z)
Which all corresponds to our own findings - that 56% of the decision to stay or go is down to connection. Strip it away, and even well-paid, “engaged” employees start to drift.

- Leaders build trust by showing up, not performing
- The easier it is to speak up, the more people will - and that's a good thing!
- If you don’t respond, people stop sharing
- Progress isn’t always neat - but messy is where improvement starts.

None of this is complicated. But it does take time and intention. You can't just 'announce' connection. It’s something people feel in their day-to-day experience of work. Get it right, and everything else becomes easier.
