IMPORTANT TUMBLE DRYER INFORMATION….

It might not yet be common knowledge but from next January (2027) the government are changing the UK regulations regarding the sale of tumble dryers! In a push to bring about better energy efficiency, traditional vented and condenser tumble dryers will be outlawed in favour of heat pump dryers!

While still available, retailers are still able to sell vented and condenser dryers, but from January the manufacturers will not be able to build or import these dryers anymore! Already many home appliance brands have ceased production and are gearing up to only produce heat pump models.

Although definitely more energy efficient, so far, reports seem to suggest that heat pump dryers take substantially longer to dry clothes, in addition to being more expensive to buy. That’s why over the coming months, before the ban commences, it is expected that there could be a bit of a rush in UK homes to snap up the dwindling stocks of the traditional style tumble dryers!

The government Department For Energy Security And Net Zero have made it clear that it will not be illegal to use, repair or sell the traditional style dryers, but in a drive to use less energy they will no longer be manufactured for use in UK homes!

In the meantime we will continue to stock all types of tumble dryers while stocks continue to be available.

Betamax, VHS or V2000?

Remember video recorders and recording on cassettes?

Back in the 70’s, you probably knew someone had one of these new fangled video recorder machines. At the time there were three different types to choose from.

To be fair the Betamax system had the reputation for the best picture quality, but it was the vhs type that came out on top and ended up winning the battle.

The biggest problem, back then, was going down to the local video hire shop. There would be shelves full of vhs films to hire, while the Betamax selection was usually much smaller and the V2000 films were virtually non-existent!

Does anyone recall how expensive these video recorders were back then? Having one under the television, in the early days, was quite a luxury. Just imagine being able to record a television programme while you was out or in bed at night. Incredible stuff!

Did you have one at home?

QUALITY SERVICE COUNTS...

For most of us, when your television breaks down, it is a bit of a disaster. Will the repair be expensive? Should you buy a new one? How much are they? All these emotions enter your head...

The alternative is to choose wisely and have bought a quality television made by the premier British brand, Mitchell & Brown.

This morning, straight after we opened, a distressed customer came in to report his tv had gone faulty last night. We supplied it four years ago. Within the hour we made a service call to determine the problem. It had a complicated screen fault.

Thankully, all Mitchell & Brown televisions have a full 7 years warranty as standard. This means that this afternoon, we are delivering the customer a brand new, latest model television to his home and setting everything up for him. The cost? nothing. Not a single penny. No call-out charge. No delivery charge. Both the manufactuer and ourselves are sorting this without delay - it's what we do!

So remember, the next time you need a new television, buy one with the longest guarantee possible. One that covers you for everything that could happen. Parts, labour, call-outs, the lot. Also choose wisely where you buy it from.

This is all part of the reason why H. Flint & Son choose to be fully authorised Mitchell & Brown dealers. Giving a first class service for over 80 years....
