This is exactly why I do what I do . Receiving amazing feedback from my delegates is the most rewarding part of my job. When I know I've made a difference and will make somebody's working life just that little bit easier, that's my job well done. Well, today is my last working day until the New Year! 🙌

On a personal level, 2023 has been a huge challenge for me for various reasons so I'm really looking forward to the break.

On a work front, my year has yet again been amazing. I have been crazily busy and want to say a huge thank you to all my existing clients for allowing me to continue working with you this year - it's always a pleasure watching your teams develop and grow in confidence - it's why I do what I do. All the repeat work must mean I'm doing something right! Thank you also for the very generous gifts I have received, they're very much appreciated and I don't take our fantastic working relationship for granted. I love working with you!

I also want to say a big thank you to the numerous new clients I have gained this year. It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know you and I look forward to working with you into 2024 which is already looking busy!

In essence, I just love my job! I have met some wonderful people this year and have forged some great friendships along the way. Long may this continue!

Good afternoon all. I haven't shared any tips or shortcuts for a while so thought I would reintroduce them 😊. Today's shortcut is for Outlook. We receive lots of emails during the day, right? Some are more important than others - surely the ones from your Manager need your attention? What if you could make their e-mails stand out from the rest, to make sure you don't miss them?
Conditional formatting is a great tool, adding formatting to e-mails when they arrive from a particular person. Here's how...

From the View tab, select View Settings and Conditional Formatting.
Choose Add and enter a name for your new setting. This could be the name of your Manager.
Select Font... and change the font, colour etc. This is how the e-mails will appear from this person in future.
Select Condition.
In the From... box, choose the name of the person to apply this condition to.
Select OK and OK again to return to your e-mail.
Now you'll never miss one of their e-mails again. You're welcome...🙌

Happy New Year everybody! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.

Well, it's the first day back at work for me (nice long break!) and we're all back to home-schooling again. Yippeeee 🤦‍♀️! I have two girls aged 10 and 13 so it can certainly be challenging! But....I've done this before, so I can do it again!

In the past year, I've had a refresher on long division and multiplication with my youngest together with learning about conjunctions and modal verbs in English. As for my 13 year old - she's been home-schooling me on things such as simultaneous equations, quadratic graphs and surds! (Don't ask!). For all other parents out there, (my 13 year old was watching me write this message and when I got to this point she said 'parents, dig a deep hole, stick your head in it, scream, come back up and resume normality!🤣🤣) - I think that sums it up! We're in this together - we've done it before and we can do it again - we're on the home run 🤞! What did your children teach you during home-schooling and what was your biggest challenge? I'd love to know!

Greetings everybody! As I have now officially “downed tools”until new year, i just wanted to say Merry Christmas to everybody. It’s been a tough old year for most of us, from being furloughed to adapting ways of working to unfortunately some people’s roles being made redundant. 2020 has certainly been a very bumpy ride and a year to remember in many ways...

A big Thank you to all my clients who have been on the journey with me as I adapted my delivery style to on-line - we now know more about Zoom than we have ever known before! It has certainly been a journey and a half and your loyalty and support has been much appreciated. I look forward to continuing our relationship next year.

Well, it's almost weekend..I'm so ready for it! I've had a busy few weeks - good to know businesses are beginning to invest in their colleagues again with training and development.

A quick and easy tip for you today and this can be used across the Microsoft suite.

CREATING TEMPLATES

A template is a 'shell' of a document containing information you use on a regular basis. For example, if you complete a weekly Overtime form for your team, you shouldn't be opening an old one, giving it a new name and then deleting the old figures. Who has time to do that! Documents you intend to use on a regular basis should be saved as Templates - they're so much easier.

1. Create the document/workbook/presentation you wish to use on a regular basis.
2. Choose Save.
3. In the Save As dialog enter an appropriate name.
4. Under the 'Save as Type' box, choose Word/Excel/PowerPoint template.
5. This saves your document to a Templates folder - that's where it must stay.
6. Save - that's it.

TO USE A TEMPLATE

1. Select File and New.
2. From the window, select the Personal heading and all your templates will be listed.
3. Choose your template. A document will be generated based on your template.
4. Create and save as normal.

I have made lots of new contacts recently, either on FaceBook or LinkedIn so I just wanted to properly introduce myself and my business to you.

My business is based in Irlam and I am a freelance IT trainer. This has been my passion for over 25 years and I love meeting new people.

I deliver face-to-face or on-line training on numerous Microsoft applications, eg. Excel, Outlook etc. The training can either be for individuals who are looking to improve their job prospects (which at the moment can only be a good thing), it can be for a group of people within an organisation who need to become more efficient in their use of Microsoft. Or it could be for your own business - to help you do your books on Excel; to help you manage your e-mails and calendar more efficiently on Outlook. There will be time-saving features you are not aware of that will free-up time in your day so you can concentrate on growing your business.

One before weekend...

I have posted a couple of times this week (I know!) with tips on the use of Microsoft Word - promoting its many features and how to save you time.

I have just been updating some of my courseware but now it's time to log off, it's weekend 🙌! I hadn't quite finished editing the whole document so I'll pick up again on Monday. An easy way of remembering where I'm up to....add a bookmark! This works in the same way as an actual bookmark in a book. Want to know how to use them? Of course you do...

1. Go to the page/position you wish to add the bookmark.
2. From the Insert tab, select Bookmark.
3. Enter a name for your bookmark - this has to consist of one word - no spaces. Use underscores if necessary.
4. Choose Add. That's it.

To go to a bookmark:
1. From the Insert tab, select Bookmark.
2 You will see a list of all your bookmarks names.
3. Choose the relevant one and Go To.
4. Continue working!

Good morning all. Just a few shortcuts to help you when creating documents in Word.

Word is just for typing, right? Wrong! Word is a very powerful tool that helps you produce sophisticated documents with ease so the next few posts will all be relating to this great application and what it can do for you.

To start you off - a few really simple but time-saving features, all using the Control key 👇.

1. Control + Home takes you to the top of your document.
2. Control + End takes you to the end of your document.
3. Control + Up arrow takes you to the previous paragraph.
4. Control + Down arrow takes you to the next paragraph.
5. Control + Right arrow navigates you clockwise, word by word.
6. Control + Left arrow navigates you anti-clockwise, word by word.
7. Control + Delete will delete word by word clockwise.
8. Control + Backspace will delete word by word anti- clockwise.

Simple but time-saving. The Control key plays a big part in all Office applications - these are just a few examples. Give them a go.
