The Manchester Satellite Reef

The Manchester Satellite Reef A satellite reef of the International Crochet Coral Reef will be created at Manchester Museum from O Manchester’s Crochet Coral Reef needs you!

A satellite reef of L.A.’s Institute for Figuring’s International Crochet Coral Reef will be created at Manchester Museum from October 13 to March 14. The reef will be part of a spectacular exhibition of natural coral specimens and stunning examples of it’s uses in the decorative arts. I.F.F.’s International Crochet Coral Reef uses simple patterns to make complex mathematical hyperbolic shapes which nature uses to create some corals. Please join the group and get involved in this exciting and ambitious project that connects craft, natural history, maths and fun! (Even if you are a knitter. We teach crochet!!)

NOTE!: Conservation of the collections requires that all yarns used in the reef must be synthetic.
