Today marks the start of , with this years theme being nature! 🍃

It's fair to say that the last year has been a difficult one for many, with isolation adding huge burden to our mental health. What's been more important than ever has been getting outside and exploring our local areas. Many TOPdeskers have found new walks and woodland where they live!

So this year, we set our colleagues a challenge, to get out into the great outdoors during Mental Health Awareness Week 🏞️! We've asked that after they take a moment to enjoy their surroundings they take a snap 📸 and share it with us.

We'll be posting these photos all week of nature from around the world 🌎 and winning pictures will be revealed next week!

This year TOPdesk UK's Mo Sista and Mo Bro employees are taking part in a virtual running challenge from our office in Manchester to our our head office in Delft, which works out to about 586km.🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️ We are doing so in the hope of raising funds and awareness this for all the dads, brothers, sons and mates in our lives. We would like to wish everybody a Happy Diwali 🕯️ and give you some tips for celebrating from TOPdeskers!

Rudika, from our lead generation team, told us the story of this festival:

"Diwali a Hindu festival of lights which is celebrated over 5 days. It is to represent the story of Lord Rama and Sita and their victory over darkness and evil.

The religious story begins with Lord Rama being exiled from his home for 14 years with his wife, Sita and youngest brother, Lakshman during which Sita is abducted by Ravana. Lord Rama, his brother and Hanuman rescue Sita and defeat Ravana.  

To help them find their way home to Ayodhya, nearby villages lit candles to illuminate their path.  

During Diwali, Hindus light candles to welcome Lord Rama and Sita into their home and they also create Rangolis to bring good luck. There are also various prayers that take place to bring in prosperity and wealth into their homes. Diwali is part of New Year’s festivities where people visit friends and family bearing gifts and sweets."

During we want to raise awareness for a really important cause:

15,000 people in the UK have sickle cell disorder.
But only 1% of UK blood donors are black or mixed-race.

We've teamed up with to spread the message within TOPdesk and wider communities that while sickle cell disorder effects everybody, it predominantly effects people from African and Caribbean backgrounds.

And donating blood is one way to help those affected.

At lunch today, we have a special talk by the Sickle Cell Society to find out more.
