has spread across the world since yesterday. A kill switch has been activated to slow the spread but it is still important to be extra vigilant.

Tips on preventing infection:
- Make sure your operating system is up to date, this is particularly important if using , you can do this by running Windows Update. If you are using windows or then you are advised to upgrade to a newer version as these are out of mainstream support.

- Install a comprehensive antivirus/antimalware suite with realtime protection, free antivirus are not as effective and the threat landscape has evolved to such a point that security is vital. Contact us if you need help with this, software is on promotion at the moment.

- Do not open suspicious emails! You may receive infected emails from known contacts, these emails often contain an attachment or an internet link, if you are not expecting these emails then do not open them unless you verify they are legitimate.

- your data! This is something that many people take for granted until they lose their data through hardware failure or infection. There are plenty of options for this, the most effective is an automated cloud backup. It is a good idea to use so in the event of an infection that is then backed up, you can retrieve an older, clean version of the file. Contact us if you need help with this.

Ransomware called WannaCryptor spread rapidly around the world today, encrypting files in as many as 100 countries by using the leaked NSA eternalblue SMB exploit.
