A new one from Matmi.

We’ve spent the last year working behind the scenes on Superlekka – The Underdog Olympics, a new £2m competitive gaming venue opening in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle.

Our role has been to help bring the games to life technically — combining software, bespoke electronics, custom hardware, sensors, NFC, lighting, scoring systems and physical game mechanics into one connected experience.

It’s been a very hands-on project, with a lot of the technology having to be designed, prototyped and built specifically for the venue rather than bought off the shelf.

That means working across everything from specialist electronics and hardware design through to game software, infrastructure and the systems that hold the whole experience together.

Exactly the kind of project we like: digital technology doing something useful in the real world.

We don’t do much social media these days. We’re far more interested in making things that get people off their screens and playing together in the real world.

And for the last few months, we’ve been working on something rather special with an amazing creative team.

It’s ambitious, challenging , ridiculous in all the right ways, and one of the biggest projects we’ve ever taken on.

It’s been a while since our last update, but we’ve been hard at work building and refining Playmechanix – our platform that enables clients to create dynamic, interactive educational content with ease.

We’ve had the privilege of partnering with some incredible organisations, including multiple fire services, to deliver essential safety training, and we’re continuing our fantastic work with Macclesfield based - JnrChef – an engaging, interactive cookery course for kids!

On a personal note, like many others, I’ve been navigating mental health challenges in the wake of the pandemic. It’s been a tough journey, but I’m grateful to be back, recharged, and ready for what’s ahead.

A while back we spoke to about making a beautiful dollhouse of their store with the local community as part of a marketing campaign. Unfortunately it didn’t get the go ahead🙁 Just found this mockup we made and thought I’d share it.
