A lot of scams rely on catching people off guard. The caller may sound friendly or professional, but then quickly start asking questions or rushing you to act.

People are being told they’re “owed compensation” or that details of an accident have been found, even when nothing has happened.

If you get one, the safest thing to do is hang up straight away and don’t share any personal information.
