A friend asks: "Should i get cloud services?"

As much as you could take your wallet out and pay, do you really need it? that is the question my friend

It is estimated that business are wasting £8.8 million a year on unused cloud services. Businesses in Europe are spending £29.4 million on cloud services, 30% of which they never use.

It is that "need" thing that you need to asses first.

Really interesting android attack surface, I must admit I never thought about this kind of vector before.

Recently, our researchers came across a shortcoming in the way Android apps use storage resources. Careless use of External Storage by applications may open the door to an attack resulting in any number of undesired outcomes, such as silent installation of unrequested, potentially malicious, apps to...

Here is a challenge for you.
I dare you to give me the answer: "More than one"
How many passwords do you use for your platforms?

This idea just got suggested
How about a simulated phishing attack?
Do you think your staff would have the appropriate behavior?

If GDPR is about identifying protecting and managing information, would this create a safer space?
Technically yes, but...
unfortunately it can also create a new Ransomware wave.
They simply have to ask you to identify what data you hold on them, ask for it to be erased and ask for proof that it has been done. If you do not comply they can threaten to go public, exposing your company to the risk of huge fines.
Let's watch this space...

Sadly the increase of security breaches will continue to make a splash in the boardroom meetings. The reactive approach is still the preferred method of response. The notion that anyone can launch a ransomware to make a quick cash flow is still not scary enough for organisations in UK. Too much money is being made from ransomware for it to stop. With a track of what comes in an out of the network, companies could become more proactive in its prevention
