Stuck on an NHS waiting list with no idea what’s going on? Something changed recently. 👇

You should now get an update at least every 12 weeks while you wait — confirming you’re still on the list, and often checking if anything’s changed.

Not a legal right, but a minimum standard. Not getting them? Raise it with PALS.

Should NHS staff be sacked, or even sent to prison, for snooping on your medical records? It’s happening more than you’d think. 👇

NHS England just told trusts: any unauthorised access means immediate suspension. Under the Data Protection Act, staff can also be criminally liable.

Over the past 5 years, 2,000+ staff sanctioned, 214 lost their jobs.

My take: give patients real-time oversight. A notification every time someone accesses your record. What do you think?

3 visits, same problem, still no answers? Ask your GP about Jess’s Rule. 👇

It says: after 3 presentations with the same symptoms, your GP should Reflect, Review, Rethink.

Named after Jessica Brady — 27, ~20 GP visits, before cancer was finally found.

Guidance, not law. But you can name it.

Been back and forth to the GP with no answers? There’s a rule for that. 👇

Jess’s Rule: if you present 3 times with the same symptoms, your GP should Reflect, Review, Rethink.

Named after Jessica Brady, who died at 27 after ~20 GP visits before a cancer diagnosis.

It’s guidance, not law — but you can ask for it by name.

Everyone’s asking why Andy Burnham is fixing social care instead of the NHS by pledging to create a National Care Service.

No safe social care means patients who are ready to leave can’t be discharged. Patient flow stops, A&E fills up, ambulances queue outside.

If it were my call, I’d put serious resources into social care first.

You have a legal right to start NHS treatment within 18 weeks of referral. 👇

If your wait runs longer, your ICB must try to find you a faster alternative provider — even a different part of the country, or a private provider doing NHS work.

Ask: “Can you offer me a suitable alternative provider who can see me sooner?”

Hardly anyone knows this exists.

You might have a legal right to double appointments on the NHS — and most people have no idea. 👇

Under the Equality Act 2010, NHS providers must make “reasonable adjustments” for patients with accessibility needs — longer appointments, choosing when you’re seen, info in a format you understand, or bringing a carer.

Covers physical/sensory disability, learning disability, autism, ADHD, and long-term conditions — even while awaiting a diagnosis.

How to get it: tell your GP practice or hospital what you need, and ask for it on your record.

We’ve all heard about “1 problem per appointment”, but what does that actually mean?

One thing is certainly doesn’t mean, is ‘one symptom per appointment’. Here’s why!
