Our Chief of Strategy and Business Development, Toby Robinson, was delighted to join a panel discussion about, ‘Satellite Operators: Multi Orbit, Multi Service as The Way Forward’.
What was mentioned in Toby’s speech is also available in his new white paper: https://www.avanti.space/technology/multi-orbit/. He discussed Avanti’s new strategy which takes in the beneficial factors of hybrid networks to create a tailored GEO, LEO or Hybrid Network Solution for customers.

🛰️ 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐭 (𝐆𝐄𝐎)
Altitude: 35,786 km (22,236 miles)
Speed: Steady - matches Earth's rotation so it seems to hover in one spot
Purpose: Ideal for weather forecasting, satellite TV, and communications that can tolerate a bit more delay.
🚀 𝐋𝐨𝐰 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐭 (𝐋𝐄𝐎)
Altitude: 180 - 2,000 km (112 - 1,242 miles)
Speed: Super fast - orbits the Earth in about 90-120 minutes
Purpose: Perfect for Earth observations and internet services that need less delay in communication.
🔗 𝐇𝐲𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝
Combination: Takes the best aspects of LEO (speed) and GEO (coverage)
Network: A mix of satellites at different altitudes to provide comprehensive coverage
Purpose: To offer near-continuous communication and data services by using the strengths of both orbits.
Many thanks to the speakers:
