The Facebook-owned messaging service says it is still safe, and what Check Point Software discovered was a system operating as it was intended.

Schroders CEO: fintech is the ‘greatest opportunity we face (FN 26 July 2018)

Peter Harrison, Schroders CEO, has said innovations in financial technology are the “single biggest opportunity” for his industry right now — as his firm Schroders steps up its efforts to build links with fintech entrepreneurs.

“Our key issue is not necessarily to take stakes in these businesses as investments, our key issue is can we use their technology to make ourselves better,” he said. “If you end up focusing on taking stakes you end up potentially anchored to the wrong ones. We are more focused on being the early adopters of new technology, on bringing something to market first.”

The firm also has an in-house fintech startup programme, which in May selected its first company in the form of Qwil Messenger — a secure messaging app to communicate with investors.
