Microsoft Build 2026 brought a wave of updates across AI, data, and application development.

Among the announcements were Rayfin, a new open-source SDK for building applications on Microsoft Fabric, Azure HorizonDB for AI-powered workloads, and new capabilities in OneLake, Power BI, Azure Cosmos DB, and Fabric IQ.

What we found particularly interesting is Microsoft's growing focus on data foundations and business context. As AI agents become more common, the ability to work with trusted, connected, and governed data may become just as important as the models themselves.

It will be interesting to see how these technologies are adopted across enterprises over the next few years.

Microsoft has rolled out a strong set of Copilot Studio updates for May 2026, and a few stand out to us.

Computer-using agents are now generally available, which is especially useful for teams working with legacy systems that do not have APIs. We also like the new workflows canvas, agent-to-agent communication, and real-time voice agents through Dynamics 365 Contact Center.

The orchestration improvements are interesting too — especially if Microsoft is really delivering better performance with lower token usage.

Overall, this feels like a practical step forward for enterprise automation.

Microsoft announced general availability of Entra-Only identities for Azure Files SMB, which allows authentication directly through Microsoft Entra ID without Active Directory, domain controllers, or hybrid sync.

From our perspective, this is another clear move toward simplifying cloud identity and reducing dependency on legacy infrastructure. It makes Azure Files easier to adopt in fully cloud-native environments while keeping security aligned with Zero Trust principles.

We also see this as particularly relevant for scenarios like Azure Virtual Desktop, where identity and file access are often tightly coupled with complex hybrid setups.

Overall, it’s a practical step toward a cleaner and more unified cloud identity model.

Microsoft has introduced closed-loop learning for agents in the Microsoft Power Apps MCP server.

In short, agents can now learn from user corrections during real usage and gradually improve their outputs without retraining or manual pipelines. A simple example is invoice processing: if “UK” is repeatedly corrected to “United Kingdom,” the system starts applying that pattern automatically across similar cases.

We see this as a practical step forward for enterprise AI. Instead of static behavior or one-off tuning, agents begin to adapt to how organizations actually work over time. It’s still early, but the direction is clear — tighter feedback loops between users and systems.

We’re seeing Microsoft continue to push a clear direction in supply chain: moving from visibility and reporting toward ex*****on powered by agentic AI in Dynamics 365.

The core idea is that disruptions are constant now, and the real challenge isn’t detecting them — it’s reacting fast enough across fragmented systems, teams, and processes. Instead of just surfacing insights, the focus is shifting to connecting signals and enabling actions directly inside workflows.

Our view is that this reflects a broader trend in the industry: supply chains becoming more continuous, automated, and decision-driven, with AI supporting ex*****on while humans keep control of strategy and oversight.

It’s less about dashboards and more about coordinated action across planning, procurement, production, and delivery.

Microsoft just announced new agentic CX capabilities across Dynamics 365 and Copilot Studio.

In short: AI is moving from assisting work to actually driving parts of the customer journey. We’re seeing real-time voice agents, new agents across the contact center lifecycle, updates in sales (like Opportunity Agent and voice-to-CRM notes), and expansion of conversational journeys into SMS.

Our take — this feels like a practical shift, not just another feature drop. Less about adding tools, more about connecting workflows and reducing manual effort across CX and sales. If it works as described, it could change how teams handle volume, data, and customer interactions day to day.

Still early in some areas, but definitely something we think is worth watching (and testing) if you’re working with Dynamics 365.

Microsoft just launched Azure Accelerate for Databases — a new program that bundles expert support, Azure credits, delivery funding, and savings of up to 35% to help organizations modernize their databases and get AI-ready faster.

The stat that caught our attention: 60% of AI projects without AI-ready data get abandoned. That makes the case better than any marketing copy could.

The skilling component is what we find most interesting — 50% off certification exams and free on-demand training means teams actually get to grow alongside the migration, not just watch it happen.

Worth a look if legacy infrastructure has been slowing you down.

Microsoft announced the general availability of Smart Tier for Azure Blob and Data Lake Storage. It automatically moves objects between hot, cool, and cold tiers based on real access patterns, removing the need for manual lifecycle rules.

Data stays in hot while active, moves to cool after 30 days, and to cold after another 60. If accessed again, it returns to hot automatically. During preview, over 50% of managed data shifted to cheaper tiers.

We see this as a practical step for teams managing large-scale logs, telemetry, or analytics data, where cost control and simplicity matter.

We came across Microsoft’s view on why many AI pilots fail to reach production — and it’s less about technology and more about governance and scope from the start.

One example they shared: a financial services company started small, using an AI agent only to help employees quickly find the right forms and procedures. No automation or decision-making — just faster access to information. That focused use case is what made it successful.

We think the key takeaway is simple: AI doesn’t need to start big, it needs to start right — with clear boundaries and human control.

Microsoft also reminds us that the real question is whether AI is used inside governed systems or outside visibility.

Microsoft introduced Service Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot, and we wanted to share the update because it feels like an important move for service teams.

Service Agent brings customer service workflows, context, and actions directly into Copilot, combining Microsoft 365 data with Dynamics 365 Customer Service. In practice, this means teams can understand cases faster, access knowledge without switching tools, and take action — all through natural language.

What stands out to us is the shift toward Copilot becoming the main interface for service work, not just a way to search for answers. It’s now available in public preview, and definitely worth exploring if your organization works with Dynamics 365 Customer Service.
