Today, 10th of October, is World Mental Health Day. A day recognised globally to raise awareness awareness about mental health and promote a cultural change.

We all have mental health and it’s super important to recognise that focusing on our mental health is just as important as focusing on our physical health. It’s equally as important to address stigma associated with mental ill - health.

The theme for this years is ‘make mental health & well-being for all a global priority’. So we ask that you support the movement and do something for you, or someone close. Here are just a few ideas

🧡Have a chat with someone you trust
🧡Avoid those triggers that can cause you to feel overwhelmed
🧡Get some fresh air and connect with nature
🧡Be kind to your self and to others

Supporting UK Disability History Month 2021 🧡

The campaign aims to celebrate the lives of disabled people, explore what can be done to make sure disabled people are treated more equally and drive inclusivity.

This year's themes explore hidden disabilities, as well as disabled s*x and relationships. Stats tell us that of the 13.5 million people currently identified as disabled in the UK, more than half have hidden impairments.

If you, your work place or institution want to know more about driving inclusive practises and increase awareness of hidden impairments then please do get in touch.

If you, or someone your know, is struggling at university or college then you maybe eligible for support - that you don’t have to pay for!

The Disabled Students’ Allowance enables those with a long term medical condition, learning difference and / or mental health condition, access to funded services and support them overcome any barriers to learning they may face. Support includes access to a specialist mentor for regular sessions or a laptop with appropriate assistive technology. These are just 2 of the potential services available.

It seems many are unaware of this government scheme that’s available through student finance. Reports tell us that many disabled students already face challenges during their time at university or college that students without a known disability do not. And furthermore 21.8% of disabled people had a degree in 2019 compared with 38.0% of non-disabled people.

Help us spread the word and make studying accessible to all.
