I'm very excited to announce that Forwd is now protected as a trademark in the UK.

Setting up and running a business like Forwd® is not easy. There are always activities just to keep the company alive, and then there are tasks like this which to help protect the business and its name.

There is so much I want to do with the company and the brand that is above and beyond the daily client work. I'll get through it all, one step at a time, and by the end of the year Forwd will be stronger and better positioned as a result.

I'm proud of what Forwd has achieved so far and am very much looking forwd to what it will be in the future as we work with more organisations to deliver technology excellence in the most ethical way possible.

What is the the most compelling reason to select one consultancy over another?

I'd like to think being ethical is important but experience shows that this is a nice to have until it isn't.

Clients typically take firms at face value and compare proposal responses based solely on their content. How often though have you seen a proposal include named resources that were knowingly unavailable, or agreed to deliver absolutely everything, even though they have no proven capability in some areas?

How often have you read the small print that accompanies these proposals which absolve the consultancy from being a little more than economical with the truth?

The problem is that when comparing responses from consultancies, you are rarely comparing like with like. Some are more ethical than others. Some will use cheaper resources, outsource to contractors or simply lie about their capabilities. Others will start with the best and gradually replace them with cheaper resources.

A rare few will do precisely what they committed to do and will be open about any misunderstandings or mistakes early to enable more rapid and cheaper resolution.

It is in this ethical sweet spot that Forwd positions itself. Forwd will not commit to deliver what it cannot. Forwd will only partner with other organisations that share these values. Forwd ensures that our ethics align to those of the client and any differences are resolved sooner rather than later.

At Forwd, we say we'll upskill your team, but how do we do that? How do we ensure that your new technology team keeps up to date with the latest relevant developments?

It is essential that every member of your team has the right skills to deliver which is why once we have sourced the right candidates for you, all contractors will have access to LinkedIn Learning. We will help them create a learning pathway to help ensure their skills remain current and relevant to your business. With each contractor learning in the same way, this will help to bring in a greater level of consistency across the team.

Contractors also receive a small budget for books they require which are directly relevant to the work they are doing.

Where necessary, we will also work with training partners and technology vendors to arrange face to face training courses, free for the contractors and available to permanent staff and your wider team at at a reasonable cost.

In addition to this training, each contractor will be assigned a mentor to help with personal development and to be a point of contact for any issues or concerns they may have.

These contractors will have access to our upskilling programme for the duration they are with you. Upskilling is important not just to your technology team but to your wider organisation and we are happy to help support you roll out wider training programmes across your organisation as needed.

Upskilling can help reduce attrition and also attract a higher calibre of talent as well.
