Founder Letter: Our Journey, Our Pivot, Our Why
When I first launched garment by, it was a dream to build a made-to-order brand — a way to prove that fashion could be beautiful without waste. Every piece was created only when someone wanted it. It was personal, it was bold, and it resonated.
But behind the joy of creating, I felt the weight of a broken system. Each collection came with sleepless nights, long delays, and impossible minimums. The more I pushed, the clearer it became: building another lifestyle brand alone wouldn’t move the needle.
The real bottleneck wasn’t creativity. It was the supply chain.
I wasn’t alone in this realisation. In countless conversations with other founders, I heard the same frustrations: cash locked up for months, production that was inflexible, and brilliant ideas abandoned because the system gave them no room to breathe.
There was loss in that moment — letting go of the brand I thought I was building. But there was also clarity and a greater gain: garment by had to become the solution, not just another player trapped in the same broken game.
So we pivoted. Today, garment by is no longer just a brand. We are an AI-native supply chain platform, democratising access to agility for SMEs. We’re connecting vetted suppliers across Asia and Europe, automating workflows, and using intelligence to give small and medium labels the flexibility, speed, and leverage they’ve never had.
This journey has been one of transformation — of testing, failing, listening, and building. And it’s only the beginning.
We are now raising our pre-seed round to scale this vision: expanding our supplier network, growing our client community, and compounding the intelligence that makes our system smarter with every order.
If you believe fashion deserves better — more creativity, less waste, real inclusivity — I’d love to connect. Whether as an investor, partner, or supporter, your help can shape the next chapter.
Let’s build the new backbone of fashion together.
With gratitude,
Vinchy Chan
